Surprise Nubian Quads

By surprise I mean the doe didn't show any of her usual signs of labor and had them sometime during the night. Also a surprise that she had quads because they are all full size and I don't know where she was hiding them because she wasn't that big! 2 girls and 2 boys and one of the boys didn't make it. He was the largest and I think born first and maybe then the others came so quickly she lost track of him because he wasn't even cleaned off. Oh well, if I had to lose one, I'm sorta glad it was a buckling. Two girls from Nuggie

I had to leave for work so I will try to get some pictures tonight (so it will be real..)

Congratulations on your new arrivals. Quads, eh? I had a Nubian doe kid out with quads once. What a shocker! Sorry about the buckling.

I bred her to Joe, my same buck. I will try to get pix tonight although it will be dark by the time I get home.

I'm kinda in shock - quads! Plus I feel a little guilty that one died. I woke up about 3:30 this morning thinking I heard my wether yelling. I went and opened the back door and listened because I wasn't sure I didn't dream it - and heard silence from the barn, so I went back to bed. I'm still not sure if I heard it with my ears or my radar, if you know what I mean.

Is Joe your spotted buck? I will come and disbud them for you(I have gotten pretty good at it - finally). . .but I might leave with one of the doelings

Four would have been a lot for her to raise - I would feel bad too though

At this point I think you would have to fight Nuggie for a doeling, but ask her again in a few weeks when they get bigger and more demanding....

Yes, Joe is my spotted buck. It was too dark this morning to see if any of the kids are spotted. All I saw was dark bodies and frosted ears

I'd love to have you disbud them, even if you wanted a doeling...
