Raw milk petition
Got this from my raw milk sight for those interested. ~Arlene....
I saw this posting on my fb and other yahoo groups about the raw milk petition set up on the government site. They need a lot of signatures to even *consider* passing it as a law. The deadline is cutting it close. The amount of signatures seems promising considering it's a new petition.. but I'm not going to rest easy 'til the goal is either met or exceeded.

Not sure if anyone else posted this before ! Sorry ! I tried searching for it in the messages but didn't find any mention.

Erika please cross post this in the general homesteading forum. We need this to be considered. I will also post on facebook and ask that everyone do the same. We need this signed!

I am having problems posting my signature. I have created an account, then verified it with the password they send me, then go to the home page, sign in, look up the petition, click on more info, & it pops up the same page that says sign in or create an account (the one link you posted).... How do I do this???

Hmm After I created an account and followed the link i did NOT have to sign back in just opened the petition and signed it. Maybe a firewall issue? I do hope everyone here signs it and passes it on We all need to make sure it at least gets looked at. I am also posting it on CL so others can learn about it.

What bothers me is that I don't think the govt has the right to say whether something like milk is "legal" or not. It's none of their flippin' business.
I'm going to go over and look at the "petition" and if I can stand by it, I'll sign.

how did Weston A. Price's name get mis-spelled on something like that?! Def not a spelling queen here but it's odd for what looks like it's supposed to be an official petition.

Okay, I wasn't going to contribute here....but this is bothering me.
WHY, would the government allow a petition on a government website, the White House website at that? With all the funny business going on with raw milk sales & whatnot, this seems fishy to me, like maybe a way to get on a "list". (I didn't even click on the link).
As far as I knew, public comments are accepted in the Federal Register, with a comment period, like NAIS was, or the USDA portal or something.
Okay, tell me I'm wrong, and this is legit. I really need to hear that.

Laws are not passed because of online petitions.

Yea. I Know.
On another forum, there was a poster asking all chicken owners to go to his blog, and report how many chickens you own. Said something about asking USDA if they had surveyed it, which they had not so he/she was asking.
So far they didn't get any direct responses on the forum. WHY would someone want to know how many chickens you own? Not breed preferences or the like, but how many (according to his post only, I didn't click on the link)
Strange.

I beleive it is legit.
If you go to www.whitehouse.gov
You are at the official website.
Scroll down there is a We the People link. If you click on it it takes you to where anyone can create a petition.

It's supposed to be a new program to facilitate us petitioning our government. You can read about the program on the website itself.

Even if it can't officially influence anyone or anything, it certainly can't hurt to have voices heard.
