Stinky - but disease free! - Boys!
Called into WADDL today for the test results on my 6 month old boys. I tested the Alpine buckling that I bought when he was 4 days old from a clean herd, a buckling that was born here (but is for sale so I tested him first), and my boer buck that I purchased from a CL/CAE tested herd. Everybody is negative for CL, CAE, and Johne's. Exciting, because this means I can move everybody into the 'grown up' pen instead of having 3 separate buck pens for isolation of new stock.
I took my 6 month old that was most in rut to visit does - now that I have disease results, I can take him over on a leash to see if anybody is in heat. He had fun blubbering, kicking, snorting and otherwise making a fool of himself with the ladies. The girls were not impressed...
I then trimmed thier hooves, which was gross considering thier status in various points of rut... I only got sprayed once! Thank goodness my boys are sweet. I did get flirted with, but my sweet keeper buck protects me from unwanted attention.
