New buck pen / location

Due to a convenient existing structure, the bucks have been living near the house. Unfortunately, one of the bucks developed the ability to levitate a couple of weeks ago, and it was time to build an escape free structure. I built it all myself. NO help lifting and pinning these heavy panels in place. Took three days.

Introducing..... The Buck Palace
It's four corral panels wide on three of its four sides, and the fourth is three panels and a gate. Six feet tall. Lined with cattle panels.

It's ok if the smell comes out now. They used to be 30 yards from the house, and now it's closer to 150!

Funny thing is, the smell never bothered me. I know it's there, but it doesn't have the "ick" factor for me. Can't say that for everyone who drove in the driveway and parked next to the former pen!

good job... I love our Fort Buck (your's reminds me of ours!!! 6foot pipe panels lined with cattle panels)... we've now had it for 5 years.. never a single break-out OR any does bred thru the panels... the does are able to rub up and down the buck pen all day long.. driving the boys bonkers.. no unwanted *encounters* LOL

You KNOW the bucks are having fun planning how they're going to breed the does through the fence.

Looks awesome. Good job Alice. I don't think the buck smell is to bad. But then again my allergies bother me most of the time so maybe I just can't smell it lol.

BTW, was it Jim Dandy who figured out how to levitate? (I sure would like to see a current pic of him.)

I'm the same way on the smell.....it's not my favorite scent....and I don't appreciate being shot with streams of urine when I go in the pen, but I don't get fussy over the smell..

When anyone complains about the smell I tell them to breathe deep, that's the smell of future baby goats

Great work on the pen Alice! My girls pen is a pipe frame with cattle panel welded on.......As soon as I can get the feild fenced in with feild fence, the boys will get the current girl pen

When we sold 1 of our bucks late this summer the buyers husband siad he could smell the bucks as soon as we walked around the corner of the house(our house) & I said I don't smell them! The bucks are about 175 feet from the house! My sniffer must be immune to the smell I guess!

Love your Buck pen Alice, you did a Great job & I dare one of those boys to try & levitate out of there new pen!

Very nice job Alice. I never thought of putting coral and cattle panels together like that. How did you stabalize them?

I didn't see a buck house...you going to build one or just didn't get it into the pic?

Very nice. I have some 6' chain link that I plan to build a new buck pen out of. It's just too hot right now to do it.

Yes, they have a small shed/house in the forested part.

Susie, I got inspired by YOUR buck pen when I was thinking about what to do, and I went to your website to check it out! THANK YOU!

LOL... at least your pen was the result of creative INSPIRATION ... my buck pen was an act of DESPERATION!!! Several BIG bucks.. some who had learned the art of flight and a bunch of flirty ladies... I realized if we weren't ever having horses again.. why did I need a $1000 round pen.. when I could turn it into a BIG, STRONG buck pen.. The hubby calls it BUCK-ingham Palace LOL.. I've got several spring bucklings I'm growing out for next year.. I think we are going to divide the buck pen down the middle.. (cattle panels & hot wire).. and put in another house for the young guys....

What an EXCELLENT idea, Susie! I happen to have several corral panels that could be used very appropriately here. Hmmmmm.. . . . ..
