The first of my "oops" babies have arrived
OK, sorry no pics. Have to wait for my daughter in law to come with her camera and put them on a cd.
My only doe that I intentionally bred gave birth on Sept. 11th. A singleton doeling. She is GORGEOUS!!! A dark chamoisee with blue eyes. Her daddy is just that and he seems to throw that almost 90% of the time. I want to give her a name that pays tribute to the meaning of that particular day. Her mama is Jacobs Well Farm Morning Glory and dad is Work N Progress RHK D'Artagnan. I would love to hear any ideas.
Yesterday my first "oops" babies were born. A ff doe with the biggest ff udder I have ever had. The poor goat walks like shes been in the saddle too long. She had triplets. 2 does and 1 buck. Because of the chamoisee coloring and blue eyes, I know with 100% certainty that the sire is D'Artagnan. Thank God, literally. The buck was first and huge and the does were tiny but all are doing well this morning. It is cold here now and I worried for them last night. Now hopefully just two more to go. Maybe 3. I am still sooo mad about these pregnancies. Fortunately, I found all the areas where they were getting out and in with the does.
Oh, and she is a dream on the milking stand. I was concerned about the tiniest so I milked out a little colostrum and she acted like it was all part of a days work.. Her mama is the same way. I love those goats...

How do you know? I'll have you know my udder was spectacular as a ff. I could've fed an army. Of course with only one kidding under my belt, I don't know how I would be now as a, um, mature "doe". Probably not so impressive. Gravity is not our friend.

Still laughing about the "udder" comments. As to the name, I kind of thought "In A Blaze Of Glory".

Congrats!
I was a mature doe as a FF and my capacity was shocking even to the lactation consultants.
Now as for names, how about Freedom, Liberty, Justice (or Justine)

Give me an open door and I'll be happy to put a blush in your cheeks, all innocent of course.
Thanks for the name ideas, I am still stumped. I thought about something with Liberty, like Sweet Liberty or Lady Liberty(since it was in NY). I like Amazing Grace, but that doesn't really signify 9/11.
Please brainstorm for me, even if it sounds corny to you. It can't have more than 13 spaces. My farm is Work N Progress. I also like the idea of something that means enduring freedom. I don't know.
The mother of my oops babies doesn't even have a name yet and she is 18 months old. I am sooo pathetic about coming up with names.

You are funny too! I like the name "Out of the Ashes". But, ah hum, you went over the 13 space limit. Shame on you.

Sorry. I had shoes on with laces and didn't feel like taking them off. Funny, lazy, and unable to count. The classic triple threat.

But I'm sorry, I have to support Bee. She said no more until we have pictures. I have to respect her decisions. Sorry.
I got your back, Bee.

And just to make matters worse, I had another "oops" baby born on the 20th. It was my tiny doe that I was so worried about. And the little stinker did it all on her own and did great. She had one little, and I mean little, boy. And he is sooooo fuzzy. I have been milking his grandma and she lives with the mama. I noticed she wasn't as full as she usually is at night and thought she all of a sudden became a self suckler. I was sure it was because of all those stories about self sucking that it happened. Never even knew he had been born. He was hidden just out of view. Turns out he is nursing from his mama and his gramma. Men!!! He can't weigh more than 1 1/2 lbs. SO SO TINY.
His daddy is also D'Artagan. He has big blue eyes. That buck sure did get around. One more to go, Lord willling.
Since that line is all named after Tasha Tudor characters, his name will be Lil' Boggart aka "Bogie". My daughter in law hopefully is coming over this weekend, so I should be able to get some pics up.

But the weekend is still 2 days away, and there's another one, and he's tiny, and fuzzy, and fall is so boring without baby pics, and, and, and,,,,,
 Just hurry.
Please. I need this. Need.
BTW congrats on another healthy baby. He should catch up in weight with two mothers.

andabigmac- You are so funny. You make me laugh. I wish you were closer, I would be happy to share all these "oops" babies with you. I wish I was computer savvy and had a good digital camera. I just wish I had a computer. but I should be content that I have hands to use a computer and to hold these precious gifts from God.
And I promise to get pics up asap. The little boy is so tiny that he reaches half way up a roll of paper towels. I just want to squeeeeeeze em.
