Smile Just 4 more days...

Until I bring home my Lamancha does!!!

I'm excited, can't wait! I already have pictures, but am waiting until they are paid in full & home before I post....then I'll flood you in pictures

All the miniature alpines (except the chicken raping mini buck ) are at my mom's now & she'll take her buck once she has a companion for him (so that's 3 does gone)....My friend is starting over with goats (had a bad go of it the first round) and will be taking Lilly, my Ober/Alpine March doeling in about 2 weeks.

This will leave me the two standard Alpine does, my 2 Lamancha girls, & my boys (will be 2 once my mom takes her buck home).

Not too bad eh? Plus, explaining it this way kept my husband from hyperventilating when I told him we were picking up 2 mancha girls instead of 1 He wanted to protest, but telling him that 5 goats total were leaving and only 2 new ones were coming in eased his panic.....

Lamanchas are cool. One of my goat gurus used to raise them.

LOL I know You notice I didn't mention anything to hubby about keeper kids from the upcoming kidding season? I'm planning on retaining a Lamancha doeling (if I get does) & possibly one Alpine (that's still a maybe).....

Technically I could keep 3 kids.....afterall I've moved out 5 goats, only bringing two in, so that should leave wiggle room for 3 keeper kids right?

You know, we may have to make a road trip & swap babies this kidding season...... I'm sure driving half way to Kansas for a goat would simply delight my husband

No, not tomorrow

Despite being on call for the last 3 weekends & this being his supposed weekend off, hubby is on call tonight & tomorrow Company has 2 rigs supossed to start drilling tonight & hubby is the on call welder who is stuck running back & forth between the rigs that are 2 hours away from each other...

Since I need his truck to go get them I have to wait. Thought about stuffing them in the back of my tiny SUV, but last time I tried that, it didn't work well. So, instead of tomorrow at noon, I'm picking them up Sunday at 3:00....Not ideal as that will leave us getting home around 7:00 or later but at least I'm bringing them home

LOL Audra, I have a Dodge Nitro with the in floor storage in the cargo area....that makes the space from floor to ceiling short.....When I took my mom's mini doe back to the breeder I tried fitting a large plastic dog kennel....didn't fit. So I squished & squeezed the bottom half of the kennel in & tied her up with a leash.

Thought I was pretty clever with the goat sitting in the plastic kennel bottom.... Until I had to get it out.....It was too big, but we squished & barely got it in, when we fought, tugged & struggled to get it out, the urine, soaked bedding & droppings exploded everywhere.... I had urine soaked shavings sliding down my back side windows, back hatch, and all over me.

Not. Happening. Ever. Again.

I'm bummed....it's like Christmas was postponed, but at least I'm definately getting them Sunday

LOL yes, sorry we are home......Got in later than I hoped & had a scramble to get animal chores done, kiddos bathed & in bed, laundry started & then neighbor drama.

Their dog came over, bugging my chickens, I yelled at it & swatted it with a broom to shoo it off & it dashed off across my property and as it was crossing the road it was hit by a car. Granted, I am tired of her dogs (she breeds chi-weenies & puggles, no fence, always tons of unvaccinated, wormy dogs messing on my property, tearing up things & bothering my chickens ect. ect) but I didn't mean for it to get hit by a car.... I just wanted it away from my chickens (who are fenced, dog was scratching at the fence)..

So, crazy neighbor had a hissy, said I pushed her dog in the road (distance from my chicken pen where I swatted him to the road is about 75+ft), all in all a fun evening

ANYWHO, Casper & Comanche are home......they were dam raised so not super friendly, but they ate well, drank & looked around a bit. Comanche is the youngest & most brave....I sat out there a while with them (calming down from the neighbor fiasco) & Comanche came up to sniff, nose my hair & chew on my clothes, so I think she'll warm up fast.....Casper came close enough to take a few alfalfa pellets from me, but was obviously pretty tense so I just left her alone.

I'm keeping them separate from the other girls until they are used to us, so they have the 40ft x 10ft corral to themselves for the first few weeks.

They are beautiful and I've got gobs of pictures (uploading on from my phone right now) I'll be posting in the morning
