Cut on leg

One of my girls slashed her leg on some broken glass. I will search for what I need to do also, but would appreciate some help in the meantime.
I have banamine inj., vit b injectable, combi-pen-48 and tetnus.

How much of banamine so I can clean her leg up?

I know I should have this info on hand, but I don't at this time.

How big a goat is she? Last time I gave any banamine it was to my nigerian buck & he weighs approx. 90 pounds I think & I gave him 1 cc.

Make sure & get her leg cleaned up good. If the gash isn't too deep or laying open it might be better to try & keep it cleaned & stuff on it with out a bandage. If you bandage it make sure & check it daily so it doesn't get all yucky under it, flies, etc.

I would wash it good with betadine & TRI_CARE ointment is great stuff. Stays on pretty good since it's really thick. It has a pain reliever in it, antiobiotic ointment & antiseptic. It also says it will keep the flies away I think. I've used it on different critters around our farm.

Is she up to date on her CD & T shots? If not you might want to give her a tetanus shot.

She is 6 months and probably 80 or so pounds, and the cut is to the bone and sliced open about 4 inches.

I cleaned it with peroxide and the triple iodine, and started bleeding, put a bandage on and it still bled. I changed it again and put more pressure on it for now. I have been checking for swelling about the bandage every 30 mins. I just need it stop bleeding before I can add anything else.

I gave her 1 cc of banamine, 2cc of tetnus, 2 cc of the combi-pen. I will be taking her to the vet as soon as I can get an appointment as there is a lot of
skin hanging loose.

She had jumped up on one of the windows in the shed, so now I have to cover the windows with something to keep them from doing any more damage.

Thank you for your reply

Ask your vet about scarlet oil. Best stuff in my experience. And she may need stitches.
I have used the scarlet oil on myself.

Over the years we've had various injuries, normally we would put Blood-Stop powder on the wound to stop the bleeding. Sometimes though, in a pinch we've had to do various things to stop the bleeding, any powder (like flour), or even lots of cobwebs would work. I'm not saying these are alternatives to proper wound care routinely, however if you need to stop the blood and you need to stop it NOW, these work, and you'd clean it out proper later when in a better position/non emergency. No flaming please, we do what we have to do at the time.

Cut-heal works wonders for deep wounds. It is a horse product.

I know I am late getting back to this. I NEED to get some blood stop powder.

I was able to stop the bleeding with the bandage and took her to the vets the next morning. He applied sugar iodine and wrapped it up nice. Friday, it had healed quite a bit and he rewrapped it.
The bandage comes off this wed. and hope it can finish healing without any further bandages.

No tendons were damaged and she is now running with the others despite the bandage. I was worried about the joint getting infected since it was damaged, but she seems do be doing fine.

Thank you all for responding.
I have put hardware cloth over the windows to prevent any further problems.

So glad your girl is healing up nicely!
On our barn windows DH screwed thin slats of wood so far apart. That way the goats can get their heads through them or the babies bodies but I can still get my hand through there to open the windows for summer & close when it get's cold, etc.
