Full feed dairy goat?

OK, so I bought this thin goat ( old news). Started her on grain, a one pound sour cream container of goat feed twice a day. Went up to 1 1/2 and then 2. She now has grain left over at the end of the day. No bloat, no distress, still grazing ( has discovered oak mast and is in love). Milk production raising every day ( once a day milking).

Is full feed grain ok on a critter that seems to self regulate OK?

most goats once the new wears off will self moderate on feed. LTE kinda has the feed available at all times as well as most of the bigger boer goat breeders. I find free choice fed animals tend to self moderate and look better on top of eating less.

I've fed cattle this same way but am a newbie with goats. Just trying to learn. I'm sure she will like the grain better when the acorns play out.....LOL

My thin hard keeper, to keep her decent I have to keep her with a full grain bucket, she is not a huge fan of grain and self regulates just fine. Streak (my thin girl) eats insanely slow on the milk stand too and when she is feeling done she picks up the food bowl off the milk stand hook and throws it across the room (you have to watch when she is getting done!). Although I have another goat that would probably literally eat herself to death. Just watch her and see how she does. I mix alfalfa pellets (if she isn't eating straight alfalfa) and usually sunflower seeds in their too so she usually isn't getting straight grain, I have other things like kelp that I mix in if I remember.
