Thiamine question

Long story short. I have doeling that we have on a 21 day Corid schedule (per Vets advice) to rid of cocci. A couple of things here. I think we are dosing (drench) maybe too high at 10.5 cc's per day for a 40 lbs goat?
If someone has a per pound dosage schedule I would appreciate it.

Second, this little one had a pretty high worm load to begin with and the Ivomec seemed to take care of that OK. Since the start of the Corid and we are a day 7 she had all signs of goat polio. I started her on 1cc twice a day of thiamine and that seemed to help some but she was still awful weak until I gave her 1cc of thiamine on her tongue. The boost was incredible or a least I attribute her coming around so fast to that. I could be wrong and maybe I should still be injecting her with it still?

Either way I think I should run the thiamine as long as I run the corid.
Is there a downside to this I am missing? At least in humans B vitamins sluff off and don't build up.

I appreciate the advice.

Are you treating cocci or using it for a prevention? Our old vet gave us corid too but its not for treating its for prevention. Di-methox or albon is what everyone says to use for treatment. For the thiamine I don't think you can over dose it (someone please correct me if I am wrong) but I don't know the actual dose for it. From what I am understand from reading on here corid doesn't cause goat polio.

Treating for cocci. The 21 day course worked for a couple of my goats before at least it seemed to they got better.
I think I will bring in a fecal and see if I need to continue.
Will it hurt if I switch to Albon?

That dosage fits with the chart I have, but I've never heard of giving it for 21 days straight. I thought it was five days on, twenty one off.

Good question and one I need to ask my vet in the AM. When he RX'd he said the lifecycle is 21 days and if you don't treat everyday the lifecyle does not end.
Would like to see it on paper.
I know I keep hearing Corid doesn't cause WMD but everything in this little gal points to just that. Why else would the Thiamine put her back on her feet when just a few days ago her legs (especially back legs) couldn't hold her up and now she is walking OK?

Alice that's what our old vet said to do also (21days). We used sustain III last time we had cocci here and just used the last of our corid last prevention round. From everything I've read and from talking to our vet and on here corid is not worth the hassle (IMHO). As far as corid not causing polio I couldn't answer that for you. I personally have questioned that a few times. I personally dont understand how it could kill the thiamine in cocci but not in a goat. I am still all new to the though cocci thing. When I lived at home and we had goats we never had the issue just this past year is when we started getting it.

I know of too many people who have lost kids giving Corid - especially if you are not giving Vit B daily. I have never heard of a 21 day treatment and that seems excessive to me (5-10 being the norm). Judging by what you are experiencing, I would stop the Corid treatment immediately.
I had been hearing good reports on Toltrazuril (sp?) for cocci, tried it after Albon failed me this year, and so far so good. I gave it for 3 days.

In my area, CoRid is still recommended for prevention of cocci, but not for treatment as it doesn't "kill" the cocci, it only slows it down so the goat's own immune system can battle it. For treatment, Albon is good, or in a pinch I have used a combination of Sulmet and CoRid.

When I give CoRid, I always give fortified b-complex too. B-complex cannot be overdosed as the body just flushes the excess out in urine, so I always err on the side of caution and give a little extra.
