Exclamation CD/T shot

Hi my names Tessa I recently gave my goat a CD/T shot behind his shoulder in a tent of skin and the day after I gave it to him he got a big hard knot. What do I do? How do I get rid of it? Is it an infection? Help me I don't know what to do!

That is very common with the CD/T shot. It takes awhile to go away but will be fine. About the size of a marble. I rub and rub and rub after I give the shot to help prevent it...sometimes that works, sometimes it doesn't. But don't worry...it will be fine

No problem. It might go away, might not. You don't need to do anything.

Don't feel bad all three of mine did it. I am going to start giving mine under the arm pit where its less noticeable. I am praying Cherry's goes down by the Tulsa Fair.

My does will occasionally have a small knot where I give them their shots (under the right front armpit). And one of them will limp around and act like a cry-baby for a whole day hoping that she'll get extra treats. But I'd say all is "normal".

Under the arm pit is new to me, but then again I don't have any good goat people near me. If i had more confidence I would do it in the back of the leg in that little triangular area. I chicken out and do the tent on the shoulder and I get the lump sometimes. Once I got a small abcess there and I completely freaked out. I thought I had CL and panicked but it was nothing and the wether is still fat and happy years later.

I've got a few bumps this year too, I always blame myself & I rub, rub, rub the area too! What am I doing wrong or is it just a reaction the goat is having to the vaccine?

Always happens to me - almost on every single goat and I always use a new needle each goat. . . it usually goes away in 6 months

I always use a new syringe & needle for each goat. I always thought it was just me but at least it's alot of you folks too. It's not all of mine but a few.

I usually give mine in the meaty part of the shoulder in front. There's almost always a knot with the CDT even after rubbing the site vigorously with new needle.

It helps if you rub it immediately after giving the shot. But they still get a knot.
