Which one????

OK I am really confused here. One link I have bookmarked has all the wormers listed and lots of Not Recommended statements next to them, others say not for goats being milked. I treated 3 of the 5 goats with Ivermectin (the other 2 had good color in thier membranes so did not do them)...2 have not responded (membranes still very pale)...Momma goat and her baby. I am trying to find another wormer I can use on her and her nursing baby that will work and will not interfere with milk collection when I start milking her soon. What do I use?

OK, I looked at that link too which is why I am confused with the conflicting info. According to Fiasco looks like Moxidextin (Quest) is prob the way to go- but she does not know the dosage of the horse paste for goats....what would it be?

Cydectin can be used but I dont like using that on goats with white eye lids. I start with a soft kill wormer like pyrentel at 5xs the horse dose and give 4 ccs of iron or 40 ccs of redcell then in a week I give the cydectin.
There is no milk withdraw on either, ivermect products are used in humans so if in the off chance some did make it into the milk supply it shouldnt cause an issue i would dump the milk. Epernex (sp?) ivermectin can be used on dairy animals for no milk withdrawl.

Here is a much more up-to-date website with good detail on dewormers.

http://www.dairygoatinfo.com/index.php?topic=8934.0

Also, I use three days of withdrawal on Ivomec type products, well actually most dewormers.

ALMOST ALL dewormers have NOT been tested on goats. That's why there isn't a milk withdrawal listed on their labels for goats.

Thanks- eyelids are white. I will pick up pyrantel....just was not sure if that was effective. I have a tube of panacur here, but I have heard that was not effective.

I am going to get quest paste...not liquid. That is what I am looking for the dosage for. Also, I have a bottle of pyran liquid 2x for puppies....4.54 mg per ml....so how much do I need to give? Wondering if this bottle would be enough....it is 60 ml.

I buy the Quest Gel in the green tube (about $9) Dosage is 1cc per 100lbs. I prefer to empty the tibe, mix well & then draw my dosage as the active ingredient isn't always evenly distributed in those hore dewormer tubes.....

Not a clue on dosage for the other wormer, sorry.

Thanks for clearing that up for me Crystal! I assumed the gel or paste was not marked as cc's but as weight on the tube that is why I was questioning again. Now I understand

Good news- the pyrantel seems to be working. Their eye lids are now pale pink instead of white. Should I repeat the pyran (since it seems it is working) or just go to the quest?

My vet recommends using the pyrantel (Strongid or generic) AND Quest together. How long has it been since you gave the pyrantel? Wait 7-10 days since that dose and then give it again along with the Quest. My vet didn't seem to think mixing the Quest was necessary - she just said to go by the markings on the tube and give twice the horse dose (200lb mark for a 100lb goat, etc.). Since she raises goats herself, I trust her and my goats have done well on her recommendations.

Next time you deworm, when the eyelids are pale rather than totally white, you can give the two dewormers together and I have found that a 2nd dose usually isn't necessary for my goats.
