Doubled the Herd...

Well, this past weekend I ran upon an offer I couldn't resist. I picked up 4 reg. Nigerians, 2 reg Nubians, and a reg Mini-nubian. Hadn't really planned to expand breeds, but a deal like I got couldn't be passed up. Hope to get some decent pics this weekend when the temps cool down!

They are all really cute little goats but Maybe it was Memphis is so darned adorable with that cool hairdo & Flower is really something too! Never seen a goat that was half of 2 breeds come out with an ear from each different breed!
Love Sally, so adorable!

I was just joking about being half La Mancha. Her previous owner said she sustained a bad cut on the ear as a kid so they just took it off. All are registered stock and I am super excited to have them. Thanks for the kind comments. Need to post a picture of Memphis's son (my original herd sire). I now have a father son sire team, which I know isn't ideal, but I will use them this year and then go from there. As for Flower's face, I cannot honestly tell you if it is crooked or if its an optical illusion. I have tried for over a week to figure it out...Going to get a picture of Maybe it was Baxter...

Love the little junior herdsire, he's a real looker! I thought that was pretty weird to have a lamancha ear & nigie ear on the same goat, well I did say I was a dummy in one of my threads today!

We got our first standard nubian last year & we love her, this was her first year to kid & she had 2 beautiful doelings who are both just little sweethearts. Folks say they are really noisey but mine is actually pretty quiet. I have Nigierians & mini nubians that are much more talkative than she is.

My Nubian buck, Remmington, wakes me up with his bellering. I dont mind it at all, its not as annoying as my nigerians and their high pitched whiny call...lol

Aww congrats on your new additions!

Memphis' hair do made me laugh out loud!! Too cute!

On Flower..... I wonder if she has what's called a wry face?? In Ag class one year they brought in a goat with it to show us....it was thought to be a boer, swiss cross, but if I remember right its a deformity, I just don't remeber if it's passed on to offspring.......For some reason I'm wanting to say it was a freak of nature deformity, not something passed on (don't quote me on that).

The goat brought to our class had a slightly more crooked face, & solid colored so there wasn't doubt as far as optical illusions.....The dam had a normal face...sire was unknown....all were headed to the sale barn, but our teacher wanted to show us the oddity before they were run through the sale.

I like the grade nubian . She appears long bodied and uphill, has a long bone pattern, nice brisket. Looks like her rumen could use lots of roughage. Rumps a bit steep which is a common flaw in nubians, but that can improve with future freshenings.

Sally has such a sweet face! Looks like a little deer.

I do think flower does have a wry face, looking at the pic.

They all look very healthy, Memphis is hilarious!

Thanks guys. I am working on getting them some hay, as you can see what our pasture looks like. Good to know that have a decent Nubian to start with. Memphis is a big ol' baby and of course the bucks have scuffle every day at feed time. When you go from one buck to having three, the noises are very entertaining...
