Goat seems off

I have a wether (well it's still in the process of falling off ) that just seems a bit off. He had coccidia about 6 weeks ago and has been clean ever since the dimethox treatment. When I feed them the bigger doe's will nudge him out of the way and he just falls to the ground. He gets up okay, but he just seems very limber and weak. His eye membranes are pale, but his fecals are clean. He is still in with his mother, but I don't see him nurse very often. He was born May 21. Any ideas what I should be looking for or what to treat. I know many of you know about my problems with the alpacas and my attention has been on them. I need to re-focus and get this little guy on the right track.

How old is he now Jill & has he been wormed with anything else other than his coccidiosis treaments?
What is he eating? Oh & temperature, have you taken his temp to see what it is?

I would put him on treatment again and get a fecal asap, his immune system is down because of past illness, could be worms. Won't hurt to give him cocci treatment.

He's 10 weeks old and was wormed with ivomec last week along with bo-se. I'm also giving him Molly's Herbals. He is still nursing (I think) and eats hay. I've never given my goats grain except the ones that get milked. Maybe he just needs the extra boost of some grain/alfalfa pellets? We did a fecal on him last night and nothing showed up on the slide. When he had the coccidia, there was no question about it...showed up on the slide with no doubt.

I can give him the dimethox again. I just don't like to give them stuff if it's not needed. I have not taken a temp...I'll do that in the morning.

Tonight I gave him some B-complex and a little bit of redcell.

I thought the recommendation was continuing coccidia treatment until they are six months.

Dunno without googling, but I think that's right!

I'm not sure either. We've never had coccidia (that I know of) in the herd. I've never even had them on prevention so this is new to me.

I found this info on Coccidia and I assume that explains alot of what is going on with him. It's just going to take time to get him completely healthy again. In the meantime I will continue to baby him and keep a close on him.

One thing that I didn't know is tetracycline interfers with rumen function. Yikes...we've been dosing the alpacas with LA200 and had no idea! I think we need to get our thiamine prescription filled asap...any suggestions on where to fill this online?

Glad you figured it out Jill. I know how frustrating it is when things just don't make sense (see my long post on the equine forum lol!)
I think you will be able to get him back on track. I had a fecal done on my goats once that came out clean and I didn't believe it. Follow your gut

I have never had a goat come down with coccidiosis either but I always do the prevention treaments. I do think they say for 6 months but I have always just done 3 rounds at 3 weeks apart, and each treatment is 5 days. I have been doing it that way for a few years now & that works for me.

I'm sure he'll come around Jill, the red cell & Vit. B sound like they were a good idea too.
When I asked about his temp. I was worried about maybe pneumonia since some folks have had a problem with that this summer & kinda crept up on them & seemed silent without the obvious symptoms.
Another round or 2 of the Di-Methox should take care of your little guy.
I hope things start calming down for you around your farm, Hugs to you Jill, I know all this is very stressful.
