Infected Eye... HELP!

My boer/nubian yearling has something going on with her eye. I noticed yesterday that it was swollen, figured she probably bumped it or something. This morning the swelling hadn't gone down at all, so I looked closer at it. Her eye is greyish and cloudy looking, looks like cateracts to me, but the top part of her eye is bright pink. Her eye is not watery at all, but is swollen. What do I do? Will the swelling go down on its own, does this mean she is going to be premanently blind in this eye? Do I need to worry about it spreading to the other goats? I cannot afford the prices that my vet charges for house calls, especially for a boer. So if this is not something I can fix, that means she is going to the freezer. I wanted to breed her at least once before butchering her...

I would flush it really good with saline and then use an antibiotic ointment made for treating eyes. Don't use anything labeled with Hydrocortisone(HC) or Dex. That would have a steroid in it that would make any ulcer or scratch worse.
The cornea can get cloudy like that and return to normal with treatment. I would use the ointment 2-3 times a day for a week. and then 1 time a day, then every other day until it clears up.

Take a deep breath and be calm! She either bumped it, got something in it, or it's pink eye. Don't make the leap to butchering for any of those.

Rinse with saline (mild salt water), look for a sticker or chaff.

Get antibiotic eye ointment from the feed store (most carry it) or the vet.

Treat as Minelson said.

An infusion of pennyroyal and goldenseal will also help.

And if dealing with an eye infection, you don't actually need eye antibiotic ointment most of the time. If you have any type of udder infusion tube, you can just squirt some of that in there.

A friend of mine is going through her doelings eye infection right now. It got swollen one day, no obvious signs of injury... vet checked her and found she had tiny scratches on her cornea. Told my friend to keep up with the eye antibiotic ointment she got from TSC, and told her most of the infection will go away...
Emily... I love that idea!!!!
