Pick everyones mind for a minute (srry its long)

As most all you know we lost Louie about a month ago, and on here I had posted before he died about him tripping over his feet which later became he could not get up at all. We took him to the vet and he said it was because he had cocci and worms (which he was on treatment two weeks before this). He said he couldn't get up because he was weak from them both. Well later that night is when he passed. Taking Monkey in the next day to make sure she was okay we were talking to the vet about Louie dying. He was totally shocked saying he was not that infected to kill him that fast.

Now he was treated with thiamine after his treatment for cocci so we don't believe it was Listeriosis. He did not get into anything here to harm him. He was eating fine peeing, pooping, running around normal up until the day he died... well besides running and walking but he was walking normal two days before he died, But he ate up until the day he died. His face was swollen but I figured that was bottle jaw.

Now the reason I am bring this back up is talking to my mom she has now three that is this happening to. Lucky for her she not had one pass away yet. We are trying to figure out what it could be. The vets are clueless, we are clueless so hopefully someone here might know something.

Also to kill two birds with one stone. It's that time to do the corrid prevention. The bottle the vet gave me says 8cc per 100 lbs for 5 days On here and from what I have read online says 6.25 per 25 lbs for 5 days. So now I am totally confused in what to do. Also reading I seen since corid destroys thiamin they say to give it while giving corid. Anyone else do this and how much and for how long?

I use 6.25cc per 25 pounds for 5 days, repeating every 21 days. I don't give thiamin. Never a cocci problem after I started this regimen, and never have I had an issue with the Corid causing problems. I just weigh the kids with a weight tape and put the appropriate dosage in the lam-bar. I put a small squirt of cherry flavoring in there as well, but I think that's more for my peace of mind. My husband doesn't add the flavoring and they drink it all just as well as they do with the flavoring.

We also give the 6.25 for 25 lbs for 5 days and repeat every 21 days.

Corrid does NOT destroy thiamine in the GOAT. It makes the coccidia organisms unable to metabolize thiamine.

Is it possible at all that he could have had scrapies? It's a prion disease of goats exactly like mad cow in cattle. It is rare in the US, but since prion diseases are spreading to other species of mammals, deer, cow, humans.... it might be possible. I know it would be unusual, and not the first thing you think about, but in other nations of the world it is common. We have been blessed in the states because we don't create feed from animal parts like they do in other nations. But that doesn't mean it couldn't have come in from cows somewhere or even deer. And if a few have the same symptoms, that would be my major concern, that they are spreading it around. The symptoms certainly fit.
