Question How can I tell if buck penetrated - should I Lute??

I have a 5 month old LaMancha buck, and 5 and 4 month month old doelings. Boys will be boys and he got in with the girls, but I am not sure he even mounted them (I was not even sure how long he was with them as I was out). He was showing no interest in either of them, there was no "sexual" show to either girl like urinating on himself or sniffing and I am not even sure they have come into heat since technically they are seasonal breeders (of course, goats don't read books). How can I tell if the buck even penetrated or can I or should I just Lute my girls in two weeks?

Now of course, I want babies from these girls, but they need to grow a little more before they are ready to be mommas themselves.

Are any of their rear-ends goopy? If not, you are probably okay. I doubt your young girls are cycling yet.

Nope - no goo or swollen vulva and no interest in him except to butt him. I figured they were most likely okay.

Preg test in 21 days is what I would do. I've heard of kids being bred as young as 2 months old, you can't convince me they were cycling so I honestly believe that a tenacious buck on a young doe that doesn't appear to be cycling could cause a pregnancy.

Preg testing is easy, and if they aren't actively cycling right now that's the only way to tell. When my girls had a buck break in with them, I waited to see who had a heat and who didn't the next time around - anyone who didn't, got luted. But, this was in the fall.

My Alpine girl Sabrina gave birth to her first kid at 9 months old.....sneaky Nigerian got in with her. It's one of the reasons Sabrina is so small (for an Alpine)...her full sisters & dam were a good 5"-7" taller than Sabrina.....She is really stunted due to such an early pregnancy.

I'd pregnancy test with biotracking just to be sure.
