Question Where do you get your vaccines?

What vaccines can you get at your average livestock store (tractor supply) what with ones can't you get? Do you order yours, let your vet administer them, buy and administer yourself?

I will only buy vaccines from my local Vet Supply or Jeffers Livestock. Too many times I've seen vaccines taken out of the cooler, customer changes their mind, places on a random shelf & later an employee takes the now warmed to room temp vaccine & places it back in the cooler to sell.

Worked at two feed stores...this happened all the time! At TSC I found a vaccine on the shelf by the cat food....warm as can be (puppy vaccine) & I gave it to the manager, told him it needed to be tossed..he shrugged & placed it back in the cooler!!!

I know the owner of my local vet supply & he is meticulous about proper storage of vaccines.

I've had good luck with Jeffers vaccines too.

I get puppy shots & CDT from vet supply.... Uncommon vaccines for my area like Lysigin I get from Jeffers.

Local farm supply or Jeffers.

I do all the shot giving. No reason to pay a veterinarian $50 to come out and do a one second job.

There is not a cocci vaccine. There is coccidia prevention which is the liquid Corid & there is coccidia treatment which is Di-Methox, both of which Jeffers carries.

And yes, Jeffers has all the vaccines I need, and they carry a few my vet supply does not carry.

Another thing to keep in mind is the overnight shipping on vaccines is expensive, especially if you only need one or two things. A month ago I checked on ordering 2 25 dose vials of CDT and 3 10 dose vials of pasturella vaccine for the goats. So, approx $29 worth of vaccine and the shipping was quoted at $27! So, I called my vet and they ordered what I needed and it cost me $37 total. They had their mark-up but it was still cheaper.
