Oh no! My doelings got in with the bucklings!

We had a bad bad storm last night and dh moved the doelings (about 2 months old) to a different barn stall area so they would stay dry as their windows were out. They got out and went in with the boys (about 4 months old). I know for a fact that one of the bucklings has been overly friendly to the other ones back before So I'm really worried about the doelings. What should I do? Can they get pregnant at this age? If it did they would die right? UGH UGH UGH!

Pregnancies at this age HAVE happened, but they are HIGHLY unlikely. Kind of like those Sun articles at the check-out line about the 8 years old in Chile that got pregnant and gave birth to Quints, yanno?

It is very, very, Very, VERY unlikely that your 2 month old doelings managed to go into a heat, even if your 4 month old bucklings managed to find the hole.

On your doelings, is there any evidence in / on the "target area"? Even so, it's highly unlikely that any viable breeding took place.

THAT SAID, please mark your calendar for the date they got in with the bucklings! In case anyone starts looking extra chubby, you'll know due dates.

Last year I bought a just-weaned doeling, and the prior owner "thought" she may have been in heat (less than three months old!) She DID take a breeding, and kidded out at the age of 8 months. Very fortunately, I had an approximate breeding date, and knew to watch for the kidding date. It went well, but could have been bad, as she did need some assistance.

Yeah, I agree it's unlikely they got bred. The bucks may have even attempted, but they probably didn't succeed. If you're really worried you can always send a blood test to Biotracking in a month to see if they're pregnant, and if for some strange reason they are, then you can Lutalyse them to abort.

I agree with Caliann too, although it is possible, it is not very likely at 2 months that they will get bred.
I would make a taller fence between the 2 areas though so you'll be all set for the next storm.
