Buck / Buckling opinions?

I'm thinking of trading my Nubian buck - that I have been very happy with -
on a nice Reg. Dexter heifer.
That said, my reason is mostly that I don't - yet - want to linebred or keep two Nubian bucks - and I've kept two of Ace's daughters from 2010.

Here is a buckling I'm considering. I've not seen him in person yet and am still keeping options open.

Breeding behind both is similar - my buck is all Willow Run, Kastdemurs and Foxwood and Kismet.

This buckling is Willow Run, Kastdemurs, Royal Crest and Foxwood.

Here is my buck

His dam:

then the buckling

his dam

Sire of the buckling as a buckling himself

Anyway - any opinions? I'm also considering others - just waiting on photos - and also considering just keeping Ace and finding someone who can AI his daughters

ok, not that Im good at this stuff yet but however I do not like the does hooves in front they slope forward and it looks to be the same case with the buckling, no hoof no goat...
Its so hard when they are kids, but he doesnt seem to have his dams length of middle body, but has a nicer neck than she does. I dont see much of a chest on him but it can be because of the way he is standing. On her, I do hope shes been milked or is drying up as I dont see a great deal of udder or teat length there either.
I do think hes a nice looking boy however and would love to see what he could do, I do think he over all is nicer than his dam... Where is pics of the sire???

You have to ask yourself:

Would I like my whole herd to look like this buck kids' dam?

Personally, she has funky feet/legs. And Nubians are traditionally strong in General Appearance - so that may not help your herd (she is also "downhill"). I would certainly want to see her with a full udder, back and side, and preferably with her head up (perhaps she was just standing awkwardly for this picture).

Any Linear Appraisal scores? Milk records? Show wins/records? How about LA further back in her pedigree?

I think that answers my question perfectly - No, I would not. lol.
That might be a bad photo . . .but while I thought the buckling was nice, and the sire of the buckling is nice overall - the dam isn't one I'd want -
I have seen an udder shot - can't find it now - and the udder is nice -
Here are my buck's daughters - which - though plenty of flaws they have - I think are much nicer than the dam of the buck, and I don't want to go backward. . . they doelings are an improvement over their dam because of the buck I already have. . .

Funny how that one simple question solved my problem.

Now - who DOES have an exceptional buck/buckling in WV, Ohio or Ky for sale?

The potential bucklings dam looks a LOT like Kissee. Its probably just the coloring but I had to do a double take there. I'll have to look at her feet in the morning

Throw a doe in for my buck and we can talk, I feel bad for him hes all by himself and his little wether all the goats make fun of him because hes short..
I am going to her house tonight and get some pictures, they are all very nice goats and the daughters I have out of her buck have freshened with respectable udders and milk quantities, very socked on as you would say....

ADGA Genetics is your friend. Look at your goats and see what you would like to improve. If you aren't willing to transport a buck cross-country, look at the herds within a reasonable distance, and look up their goats on adgagenetics.org . If they have Linear Appraisal or DHI data on those goats, it will be on that site. Look for does that are strong where your goats are weak, and request pictures of the does (if not available online). Once you have a doe you really love, order a buck out of her. Don't worry about the expense, he will pay for himself through his babies.

I think that you should look at Hoanbu since they shouldn't be more than a couple of hours from you. If you don't mind American Nubians, they have a black buck out of the following gorgeous doe priced at $400.

I like Hoanbu, but I do not want to get into American Nubians, but all their does with buck kids I liked were sold out before birth - darn it!

Cannon Farms:

I'll get some more photos of the buck and doe soon - I'll email them.
Also, whenever you can get a chance, have you gotten the paperwork on the one doe and sire to mail for the mini Nub doeling?
