I have a 2.5 mo buckling, and plan to keep him for his services. his pen would be adjacent to the main pen, is that close enough for his companion needs or does he need another pal IN the pen with him?

The main pen inhabitants will probably go off wander and he won't be able to. Then he'll scream and holler. He'll get upset when everyone beds down without him, too.

I would put a buddy in the pen with him.

Chewie, he will need another to stay in his pen with him. Even if he can "see" the others, he cannot roam around with them; so he will get lonely.

the buckling in mind is about the same age, but quite a bit smaller. my current boy is a boer cross, this one is all dairy, so hey, I will have it covered either way I wanna go! and when I decide, I will more than likely wether the new one, i've had need several times for a 'pen pal', and a nice friendly cute whether would be nice to have around. was considering getting a ND for that job, since they're so small, but this one is a mile away and so danged cute!

I love the wethers, their my favorites. Actually banded 1 little buckling from this springs babies because he just has to stay here to live.
