Polled Nubian & Blue Eyed Buckling Pics
For those who saw my previous post, I went to see the two nubian bucklings today. The polled one was born around Christmas and aptly, his name is Rudolph. He is not 100% nubian, but 3/4 nubian and 1/4 boer. I am including a pic of his daddy who is 100% nubian and polled. His momma is 1/2 nubian and 1/2 boer. This buck would be for breeding to my Saanens if I do trade him. This way I can add some butterfat to the Saanen volume. None of my Saanens are registered, so registration is not an issue, just quality. I figured that with the small amount of Boer in him that some of his sons would make good freezer camp candidates. I am also attaching pics of the blue eyed buck who is 4 months old. Unlike Rudolph, he is not handled on a regular basis and although his mom would come up to you, he was too shy to. He has the same daddy and his momma is a cinnamon colored doe, which makes me wonder why he is white, but he is cute and his blue eyed sister is the light brown and white one in the foreground. They had an adorable black and white spotted doeling, but she wasn't for sale. As far as teats and production - Rudolph's mom has the boer teat with the Nubian production (she was overflowing with milk even when nursing triplets) and the white one (who's name I can't remember), his momma had very good teats, but they only let her raise her kids and never milked her, so I have no idea on her production. Any opinions would be greatly appreciated!!
