Something is wrong with Gretta's back

I was cleaning in the barn and she comes wondering in and started baaawwing softly. I was scratching her shoulders and back and when I scratched towards the back closer to the tail she just went down kinda and scuttled away. That was weird, so I touched her there again and the same thing. So I got her brush, which she loves, and started brushing her and when I brushed over the top in that spot she did it again. Like it really hurts Then she jumped up on her table and went to sleep. I did it again after awile while she was laying down and she just cringes when I touch her there. So I guess she must have hurt herself. She is walking fine. Acting kinda lazy but everyone is right now. so I don't know I'm just really worried now. I checked her lower eyelids cuz that is what I always do and they are nice and red/pink. I do have banamine on hand.

Can you see any type of injury under the hair?

I looked as best as I could and didn't see anything. She doesn't even want me touching her hair

Sometimes my goas just do that, they do not want to be touched in that area and will sink low and avoid it. I have not paid attention if they are in heat at the time or what.
She might have a minor injury or just not want you to touch there right now.

you get dairy goats to do their stance by tickling about in that same area, it makes them kinda squat. Im wondering if shes coming into heat and out of instinct was tell you as if you where a buck to leave her alone she wasnt ready yet??
Try to poke the side of the area instead of being on top of it.

She could be coming into heat and that was my first thought. She is just wierd when she is in heat. I'll try poking the side of the area and see what happens. She is already getting sick of me starring at her.
It's just one of those days...Boris had blood on his paw from who knows where. And hubby and I are a little "off" from a saddle fiasco last night. (I posted about that on the equine forum) Some friends want us to meet for supper and we just don't wanna go anywhere...just a bunch a bothersome stuff I think I'll take a nap and start the day over.

Well no luck with a nap...my horse Joey started to colic at 1:45...Luckily he knickered at me from the gate and made me suspicious and went down to see what he wanted. He started to paw and then went down. He is better but still hasn't pooped. I just came in to brew a pot of coffee. Please pray for poop from Joey! what a day!

yes...that is the first thing I did. He still hasn't pooped. but is eating/drinking upset about being seperated from Spencer. I even took him for a ride in the trailer and no poop. I am about to try that agian. He is notorious for ALWAYS pooping in the trailer.
Looks like I drifted my own thread!
Gretta is still the same. She doesn't want me to touch her anywhere now but on the neck and shoulders. I poked her sides and she didn't like that. What a weird day.

Just asking because my sister has an arabian that colics easily and I always give her Banamine.
No ideas on Gretta......

we have gotten horses to poop before rubbing the anal area to stimulate, you can also take a large towel and have your hubby on one side and you on the other and kinda see saw it under his belly putting pressure on it, most like it because your scratching them, some it tickles so use caution. I hope they both have not gotten into something they shouldnt have

Sorry I came in too late for all the excitement but so glad Joey & Gretta are both feeling much better! Now I think You & Alice both need a break Michele, I just hate it when I have days that don't go like there supposed to & alot of mishaps.
