Do goats like mint?

I'm sure we've all dealt with the damage that one little escape artist can do in just a few minutes. I have a long flower bed that lines the driveway just feet from the goat field. Everything I've grown there has been destroyed by the goats. Mint sure grows well and this flower bed would be the perfect place for it. I know that mint deters mice....do you think it would deter goats?

I have huge patches of wild mint, the goats never eat it.

Ah, but if you put it in the flower bed, they'll think you planted it just for them!

Mine don't seem to bother with it, either.

I could have sworn I've fed our goats some mint...maybe I'm thinking parsley. I just remember how nice it made their breath smell!

Talking about wild mint here. It is one of the last things they choose, but they will eat it when things they prefer are gone.

Just don't let them get into perilla mint. We had a producer up in MO that had some poisoning from this last year. http://www.utextension.utk.edu/publi...files/W135.pdf

Oh yeah, do NOT put a fence around it. Unless it's climb proof and 6' tall.
