Unhappy I could just cry!

My littlest Nigie kid, one of the ones I was bottle-feeding, was dead in the pen this morning. Quite stiff, but very warm, which makes me think his mother laid on him and suffocated him.

He would have been two weeks old today.

And of course, being a bottle-baby, he was an absolute sweetheart. I was even thinking about keeping him. . .

What really upsets me is that I kept the two does and their triplets in a separate pen, thinking they might get trampled by the bigger goats. And I thought he and his brother would be better off staying with mom, rather than pulling them, even though she wasn't feeding them.

Ah well, at least I got to enjoy him for his short little life. And his brother seems to be doing well, fingers crossed.
