Unhappy Goats need to go!

Does anyone know what auctions are available in SW WA these days? I really don't have time to mess with an ad in the paper and I am entering a new phase in my life when I don't want to be milking goats anymore. Last week, the "kids" left the door to the feed room unlatched, and the buck muscled it open for all the herd to overindulge. I have one doe that I think I'm going to lose (still trying to save her), and some of the rest of the herd still has loose stools (could also be from spring grass). That was the last straw for me. I'm just tired of fighting what feels like a losing battle to have healthy, happy goats plus flowerbeds and a garden.

I know I'll miss them, but I need them gone, NOW. I have a lovely LaMancha buck, from great lines, several good registered milkers (French Apine, LaMancha, Nubian, Oberhalsi) and some recorded experimentals and others that can be recorded, a buckling that should be even better than either of his LaMancha parents, and assorted wethers. Hate to send them to auction, but unless someone wants them now, they are going.

sorry to hear this. Just a thought, maybe sell all but a couple? I thought I could handle 5-6, but now i've sold one, and now looking to sell another, just too many takes the fun away. but if you're done, best of luck finding a home. sometimes you can put ads on c.l. telling you'll be selling at such and such sale. might get better buyers that way.

I agree that Craig List would be the best way and that way you can at least "interview" potential buyers and find the right home.

auction your only going to get about a $100-150 each for them where as if you would take time and put them on craigslist you can get more for them, cant tell me its not worth making a couple hundred more dollars per goat. IF you really want to sell that cheaply Ill talk with my partner and Ill come get them if you include papers even if its for nothing more than they go into my commercial meat herd (adults are not used for meat breeding only)
I need a lamancha buck but hes truly got to be a good one for me to get one right now.

I'm so sorry. I agree that maybe you just have too many to be happy with right now. Your hands are full and it's so frustrating. Maybe just a couple of pets?
(((((hugs!!)))))

Woodburn, south of Portland, has goat sales every week. I am not sure what kind of regulation you'd be under crossing into Oregon, probably just scrapies ID. People cross over to show all the time. The rules and market reports are linked from the page below. I've been hauling lambs down there every couple of weeks, and the prices have been very good.
