I get to join the goat forum!!

I'm so exited, we are finally going to be goat owners. We are picking up three little boys (wethers) - Nigerian Dwarfs, next Friday. DH has done a wonderful job building them a nice stall in the barn and getting their area ready. We are getting them from a good breeder north of us and they are very helpful, but I have to admit, I'm getting a tad bit nervous too. Any last minute advice is appreciated!
Thanks!!

I forgot to add - the babies will be a little over 8 weeks old and weaned. (they have been bottle fed since birth)

Welcome to the wonderful world of goats & the forum! You are going to just fall in love with them, I think wethers are my favorites! Normally so lovable & each just as different as human kids are.

fiascofarm.com has alot of helpful info you might want to read over.
They will need a loose cattle mineral high in copper, dark gray or black in color rather than the red one's if you can find it & also baking soda or sodium bicarbonate(same thing but cheaper & sold at feed stores) & put them someplace they can get to them 24/7 & out of the elements. I use the Cargill brand mineral called Right Now Onyx, my goats really like it & they do well on it.

First welcome! I wish we had gotten small goats - instead of our bohemian pair! Can't wait to see pics!
Katie - when you say loose is that literal...they aren't formed in a block?

Mind you - we love the 2 big idiots!

Thanks everyone so much! I just can't wait. We have their living quarters all set up, have the feed, have the minerals, just need to go pick up some hay this weekend and I think we'll be set.

NorCalChicks - the minerals we're using are not the block form, they are more like crumbles. The breeder we're buying from gets it directly from ADM. I got the first bag from her. I'll have to check around our feed stores to see who can get it in for me.
