I feel sick
I have such a knot in my stomach I can't stand it.
Pixie is my 3 year old mini Nubian, she kidded in March- two bucklings, she was also copper bolused at the end of March and was wormed. Two weeks ago she started scouring, I gave her Ivermectin, no change, I waited a week and gave her Quest, which is the same as Cydectin, no change, I took her poop into the vet and they found one Cocci and that was it; no eggs or other worms.
Then last night I noticed she had bottle jaw. I had been giving her Geritol Tonic 12 ccs a day, she likes it and it has high iron and etc since she was so runny. But she still got bottle jaw, and this morning she is starting to look thin. The vet gave me an appt for tomorrow afternoon at 4 pm. All I can think is she somehow has Johne's and is going to infect everyone.
I have been cleaning up her poop where I find it but there are 5 acres so it is not possible. I so hoped they would find her riddled with worms, that would be a relief but they didn't and now I have this sick feeling in the pit of my stomach. No one else has the runs but I am still worrying and even if he tests her for it tomorrow I will not get ther results back till at least Monday and I feel like I am going to get an ulcer before then. If she does have it I am going to loose it. I pray she does not and if she does have something bad it is not contageous.
I hope I am freaking for nothing but with no real worms in her poop I cannot think of anything else. Tomorrow at 4 seems so far away, I wish they could have gotten her in sooner.

Reason: scouring, not souring

Quest and Cydectin won't get Liverfluke. Liverfluke may not show on a fecal.

Hmm she does have a "pot belly" appearance and her coat has become rough the past couple of days, so thank you Laverne I will have him check for that tomorrow and I will be keeping my fingers crossed hard!
This has been the wettest month we have had, lots of rain, mud, huge puddles that have sat and sat. We even have had mushrooms growing, which is unusual for here, so I hope for liver fluke.
I had someone coming to buy a pair of wether boys this weekend but I had to email her and say I cannot sell them right now till I get results back on a sick goat. I hope I have not scared her into thinking I have sick goats in general.
I hope I am hearing zebras, when it is really horses.
I am still feeling sick and wish tomorrow at 4 would hurry up already!

Good thinking, I think you have to use Ivermectin Plus Injectable(only give orally) for liver flukes! I'll keep my fingers crossed that she has liver flukes & that you don't get an ulcer! Try & get some rest!

What about thiamine/B12? I almost always give that - just to cover all bases.

Since the fecal is clean there is no other way to check for Liverfluke otherwise. I would worm with Valbazen at the rate of 1cc per ten pounds of body weight. I went through this with one goat I had. She kept getting diarrhea. Her eyelids were pale also. Worming for Liverfluke has made a dramatic difference in my herd. IvomecPlus with the Clorsulon is really good for Liverfluke also. Most worm 3 times ten days apart to get the life cycle.

I rememeber someone did mentioned to me while back that if the goat have diarrhea and it will show up the fecal as clean because it is all watery and it wont show up on the fecal. And If the eye lids is white and it means it is barber pole or HC.. I would worm that goat 3 times as 10 days apart and mix it as cocktail and give her vit b complex everyday.

I'm sorry you are so worried. Isn't the bottlejaw from anemia? If you've wormed her already and she's tested clean that would make sense. But if she became anemic before you caught it then the bottlejaw is from that isn't it? I had a doe with this and it took awhile to rid the bottlejaw.

Have you given her anything to slow the diarrhea?

I just went out and gave her B complex.
I see two parts of eyelids, one is white and one is pink. Not sure which part I should be looking at. I will see which of those wormers the vet has when we go tomorrow. I know the feed store carries none of them, neither does the vet supply store.
I am going to ask him about it being watery therefore coming up clear, maybe he can do a blood test or go rooting in there for a better sample.
Thanks for the ideas, I am going to mention them all to him and hope for the best, my stomach is still in knots though Even if I was able to sleep right now to hurry up tomorrow the appt is not till 4pm.
Yes Alice she has been given Pepto a few times.
I also forced her to have some baking soda balls when her stomach first became upset in case she was not eating any on her own, also gave her Probios when it first started thinking it was some kind of upset if she was eating mushrooms.
Jill this is my first experience with bottle jaw, so I know very little. I have been giving her geritol tonic with high iron everyday but she still ended up with it today. Maybe 12 ccs per day was not enough to help, she likes to drink it which is a plus.
