question on fencing and cattle panels instead of gates

I am about to fence in about a half an acre. will have access to it through the back door of the barn I built, but that would not allow me to get a vehicle into that area. I have thought about putting gates at a couple of the corners, but then I figured that cattle panels, loosely stapled at a couple of the corners may work just as well, especially since I would rarely have to access the area with a vehicle or piece of equipment. Has anyone tried this before? Can you use cattle panels instead of gates? It seems like it would be a much cheaper way to provide access.

Yup. Have one opening at a later date, but it has a cattle panel on it now. Chain and snap hooks works, too.

Currently we are using a cattle panel for a gate into our orchard. The orchard is in the middle of the pasture. We attached 2 heavy duty screw eyes to the telephone pole, then used those spring-clasp type hooks for the latches, no chance of them shimmying the latch open.
Works great for our bucks, though it wouldn't work so well if he had young kids in that pasture as they could go right through the panels.

You can. I do. They are a bit of a pain in the butt to open because they flop, but if you don't have to do it often, it's ok. As HF says though, they aren't kid proof.

I use twine to tie mine together. Then when I have to get in there with a tractor I just cut the twine and move the panel. Easy peasy

Goat panels have smaller openings, but they are more expensive:
