Anything else I should do?

I banded 1 of our little bucklings on May 2nd, this is the one we are keeping.
Anyways I noticed yesterday when he was running in front of me that it looked like the sack had fallen off so I picked him up & looked. Sure enough it did. The girls pasture area is partially wooded & I think it was getting close to coming off & probly loosening up around the top some but I think he snagged it on something & pulled it off the rest of the way.

It doesn't look bad but I can see a little bit that still needs to heal up. I have been putting the purple Blue Kote spray on it since yesterday when I noticed it.

Anything else I should be doing? He seems fine, eating, playing, etc. or just keep an eye on it to make sure it doesn't get infected?
Thank goodness it's been cool, windy & rainy so really no flies out the last few days.

Banded our other 2 bucklings too, hope they don't do the same as this one. The other 2 are both sold, well I have deposits on them until they are weaned & ready to go.

they should be fine, i never had any problem with banding, but i always did it at a few days old, there was less trouble that way, how old were they when you bandid them?

Sounds like it should be fine. We banded last year too old (I'm thinking 8 weeks) but the falling off part when fine - it was the putting the band on part that they acted like they were dying. So once it's off, I think you're good!

I almost always band right about 4 weeks old, depending on the buckling. The buckling I'm talking about that I think it came off a little early was banded at 4 weeks old.

The other 2 I banded this spring, one of them was about 5 1/2 weeks old & the last one was about 7 weeks old.

These are miniature goats though & sometimes at 4 weeks old they are just still so darned small that I have to wait a little longer. That's how the one I waited till 7 weeks old was, he had a tiny sack for so long.

I just checked the calendar on how long the band was actually on the little buckling in question & it was only 22 days.
