Haircuts and other pictures

The girls got a haircut a couple of days ago. As you can probably tell, I didn't do their faces...don't have a good blade for that. So, Cookie's head looks disproportionately large.

Here are some pictures of the girls with the new playground equipment.

And here's the funniest one! King Solomon was crowing and Snicket and Mudge were so overcome with his regality, that they both decided to curtsey and pee at the same time.

I love him too! He's very pretty and, so far, very respectful of me. He steps aside whenever I walk around in the pasture. He's never tried to challenge me at all. Here's a close-up of him.

Great pictures & hair cuts! I love the picture of Cookie laying on top of the playground equipment & the brown Lamancha laying on the ground not wanting to get toooo far away from her buddy.

I love the haircuts!! I don't have the clippers to do them, so we are au naturel here at the farm. I love the last pic - too funny.

Great pics!! Your girls are beautiful!

I didn't shave Sabrina or Bleuberry's head because they have wattles and I wasn't sure how to safely clip around then with my big Osters so I just clipped up to the neck....looked silly for about a week then everything started to blend together & it looked fine. I did shave Tootsie & Keys heads, but it wasn't worth the fight, so I'll just do bodies & necks from now on

If you are not showing, why do you clip? It seems like so much trouble, and they could also get sunburned. I'm sure there's a good reason lease enlighten me.I'm new and dumb.

Well, I was tired of hair flying around when I was milking...even after I had brushed them. Their old coats were ragged and nasty-looking. They have plenty of shade, so I'm not worried about sunburn.

I bought some new clippers and it only took a few minutes per goat...took the longest for Cookie because her fur was longer and thicker than the other two. I probably won't keep them clipped, I just wnted to get that old hair off of them. It's my plan to just keep their bellies and rear legs and udders clipped from now on...until next spring when I give them a whole-body clip again.

I shave mine because my poor Alpines were HOT with the thick hair. I shaved them all down with a #10 on the body, #40 on belly, inside hind legs & udder for cleaner milking.

It's not really any trouble, did the 2 mini's one day....Sabrina the next & my most recent purchase was shaved down 30 minutes after I brought her home because she looked awful. Going to bathe the Lamancha buck & Alpine buck sometime soon & give them a buzz down too

None of mine sunburnt, despite spending most of their time in the sunshine....For my pale girl I sprayed down her spine with SPF 50 kids coppertone (in continuous mist spray can) the morning after I clipped her & she was fine, never repeated the sunscreen...

No heavy hair keeps them cooler, extra bonus is they look super pretty too
