FF day 140 picture

So, who wants to play the "How many and how soon?" guessing game?

And is there any hope that she will have milkable teats once she freshens?

I think probably a single kid, she looks the way my alpine does and I am guessing a single for her also, but who knows I could be wrong. Her teats will be milkable, but you may not be able to use your pinky finger when you milk, just the thumb and first 3 fingers. It takes some getting used to, but can be done. Also, since this is her first freshening, hopefully her teats will stretch a bit so she is easier to milk. Good luck, and please post some pics of the baby(ies)when it arrives.

I'm gonna go with one as well~ if that date is correct. The only FFs I've had were boers one one cow (so far) but they were much fuller in the udder 10 days out than your girl is. Those FF boers also had MUCH smaller teats~ so those are looking pretty reasonably long to me considering how empty the bag is. I'm thinking they will be pretty good 1/2 hand size teats.

Good luck!

I'm guessing twins and those teats are definitely milkable! My ff looked smaller than that and now she's a dream to milk

Definitely will post baby pics when she kids. Got an extra camera battery so I could be sure to have one fully charged for it.

I have two other does that were FF, a month fresh, when I bought them last spring. I didn't take udder pix then, wish I had. I think she already has longer teats than one doe had when already in milk. I really hope to not have to do 3 finger milking again.

Definitely posting kid and udder pix when she freshens.

I'm not 100% sure on the date, as I just run my buck with the herd. She can't be much farther along because the buck didn't get here until December 30. She came back as bred from the blood I sent to BioTracking, which I pulled on April 11th. I think she was bred Jan 2nd at the latest because she was acting full in heat on Jan 1. She still has ligaments as of last night when I took that pic, no goo, but she has had some clear fluid in her teats. I've been putting her on the milk stand for her grain every day and washing her teats to get her used to the idea, and last night when I did she dripped a bit.

Here is a picture taken April 20th for comparison. Hadn't clipped her at that point so she was still wooly.

Goat to her right is the baby-daddy, Hondo.

Those teats should be very milkable as long as they don't have especially tight orafices. It may take a little while for them to stretch, but the big problem is not going to be the teats, it is going to be training her not to kick while milked. I used to have Nubians, and they were always a pain to train to the milk stand.
