Southern MO goatie friends
Alice, Coso, Heritage Farm,Govero Farms,Yarrow,Emily,Nehimama and all of our other soutern MO goatie friends, please check in and let us know you are all right. Those storms look pretty mean, not to mention what they did to Joplin.
edited to add that it looks like northern Arkansas is getting hit by those storms too. I hope everyone there and points east that are in the path are alright and drop in to let us know if they and their goats are okay.

It is still west of about half of us.
Heritage Farm, Emily, and Nehimama will get it first. Then Yarrow, Coso, and me. Then Govero Farms (but she may be far enough north to miss it).
The weather radio is shrieking and saying that the storm at Myrtle (south of us) could have straight line wind up to 70 mph.

The wind and rain hit here about 10:15 PM. It's howling now!! Thunder, too.
I worry about the goats.
The reports on one of the Springfield channels said that debris from the hospital in Joplin has fallen to the ground SEVENTY MILES AWAY from Joplin.

So far so good here... My 9 year old herd queen (who I induced this morning, to kid tomorrow) is VERY, very uncomfortable. The pressure change as the storm rolled in really seemed to bother her (I'm watching her on goat tv)... Once I saw the damage in Joplin.. we got prepared... not only do we pack a emergency bag for humans (made sure everyone had on real shoes ect.. grew up in Oklahoma.. nothing worse then getting hit and not being as ready as possible.. I also got the emergency kit out for the critters (and humans in a real emergency... we are SO FAR out in the boonies from a *REAL* city.. no one is ever coming to help if we do get hit hard).. I just feel better having all the surgical supplies together and ready to go... thankfully we won't be needing them tonight!!!!! it's already letting up...

Other than the wind and rain, we're fine! I can see there is some electric net fence that has to be reset, but looks like that's the extent of it.
Lots of concern for the folks in Joplin.

We are all good here. Most of the bad storms went to the north of us. So sad about Joplin area. Another smaller tornado hit just to the west of the Arkansas state line in far Northeast Oklahoma.

Were just east of Joplin. No damage to us or our area. Hubby worked at 15th street walmart and got off at 4:30 just getting home in time. Not sure were he will work at. I seen the damage up close. We got detoured onto 20th street trying to get to hubbys mom she is fine. Wow ive seen it on tv but seeing it in person wow. We had to ask what block were were on as everything was flattened. Trees were nothing but sticks.

Thank Goodness Alice & Yarrow are doing OK, sure hope the rest of the folks are well also. So many storms this year & so many people getting hit so hard. It is really sad to see & hear about all the devastation.

Mamato3, so glad your hubby was able to get home before it hit! How scary. Glad your MIL is okay too.
I am so glad the rest of you were spared as well. I watched those storms plowing east and all I could think was "I have a lot of goat friends in the path of those storms"

I went offline last night when the lightning started - didn't want my modem fried (again). Things are okay here. Thanks for all the thoughts & prayers. Prayers indeed needed for those so badly affected in Joplin and near there. How incredibly awful for them!

When I heard about the storm damage I immediately thought about how many Missouri people there are in this forum! I'm glad to hear that they're okay...poor Joplin.

we had another round of storms hit at 2:30am.. The wind was just screaming.... then crack!!!! crash!!! A huge limb blew off the tree, closest to the south side of the house.. it hit the roof, crashed down on the deck.. of course 5 of the Guineas had decided to sleep there due to the storm (usually they roost up in that same tree!).. it was leaves & feathers everywhere.. we found 3 of them.. one was very dazed.. got her to the porch.. didn't see the other 2... at least they weren't under the branch.. haven't gotten up on the roof yet to see if there's damage there or not.. looks like we could all rock & roll again today.. storms already popping up on radar! We lived in Oklahoma City back in '99 when the huge tornado tore up Moore & south Okc.. watching the live feeds on the weather channel reminded me a lot of that May 3rd..

okay here too
We are okay here too, but poor Joplin. Goats are all doing okay and have bounced back okay. They are anxious about not going out in the rain, but I have to think they must be getting used to it by now, we have had soo much rain. Prayers being sent for any who need it.

We live in an odd microclimate. The storms all go around us, as if there is an invisible shield that the bulk of the bad storms just slide off of. Storms to the east, west, south, and north, but rarely us. We barely got any wind, got some lightning and a good pelting of rain. Otherwise we are fine, although I am molding. I heard the Joplin tornado took the roof off the hospital and crushed the fire station. How truly, sadly ironic.
