Question Doeling w/respiratory issues plus fever on & off

Little Flurry has been suffering from some sort of respiratory infection that seems to come and go as does her fever. I took her to the vet last week and he gave her a heavy duty antibiotic (a 4 day shot) with good ole Banamine. He listened to her lungs and said it didn't sound like pneumonia, but her breathing was raspy only in her throat, like she has lots of phelm. After our vet visit (which, BTW I think a kid goat can out scream any animal in the vet's office when being given shots), she seemed to do real well for several days. Then she suddenly spiked a high fever again (105.1), so I called him and he suggested more Banamine, which I gave her. After that shot, she did well for two more days. However, now I am noticing her raspy breathing again even though her fever hasn't come back, I have a feeling that when I go out to milk tomorrow, she will once again be fevered.

I am taking her in again, but in the mean time, what could be wrong with her. She is nursing as usual and not lethargic, but when she does nurse, she sounds like a frieght train with the breathing.

My current vet's partner uses a 4-day antibiotic. It doesn't seem to work, but she won't be swayed, after all she holds the license and is fresh out of school.... That's what the label says and that is what she is going to use. Forget the fact goats have a very fast metabolism and a 4-day antibiotic wears off quickly. Do you remember the name of the antibiotic?

Put your doeling on a respiratory antibiotic with dosing daily. Ask him to give you a 10-day treatment. Thiamine & Banamine also is pretty standard. I would not wait, this has been lingering for a week(?) and could turn into pneumonia quickly if it hasn't already.

At first I thought she may have allergies, but re-reading your post I see there was fever, too. That rules out allergies.

Sounds like pnemonia. Find a different vet. I have had vets tell me that is wasn't, critters died and it was. Good Luck!
