buck kid down

I have a three month old buckling who is down. Temp 96.8!! I gave him a bottle of warm molasses water about an hour ago to see if he would get some energy because he's super weak. Peeing fine, haven't seen him poop this AM. He has not been eating well for about 4 days that I noticed. I've been giving them sorghum hay due to lack of alfalfa and he doesn't like it. When I let him out of the pen he goes and nibbles on grass and the mesquites. He and his twin sister are kind of eating grain but they aren't as enthusiastic about it as the adults. These are orphans and they are not getting milk anymore since a few weeks ago. He HAS gotten much skinnier since then.
any help would be great. I would definantly butcher him out it really seems like he won't make it.

That's the CDT right? I gave him his first shot when I got him at 6 weeks. He was due for his second shot a while ago but I've been moving to a new house and between moving furnature, corrals and tons of other stuff it was passed....

No, I'm wrong...No he hasn't been on any sort of meds for the prevention of coccidioses. He doesn't have diarrhea as far as I can tell. He def didn't yesterday and his rear isn't dirty like he's had it today....

No, CDT is vaccination. (as you remembered)

Coccidia prevention is Corid/Sulfa/Dimethox, etc.

I'm just flailing around guessing. Low temp is weird.

Do not give him anything to eat if his temp is that low. His rumen is shutting down. Is it a thermometer with the American numbers and his temp is 96 F?

Try to warm him up to at least 101 F before you put anything in his stomach. Sometimes when the rumen shuts down there is nothing you can do
If you can warm him up then give him a warm bottle of milk, nothing else right now.

Low temp is a sign that his body is shutting down... I would guess he probably has a bad case cocci and gut damage...(it doesn't always present with diarrhea.. BUT..it can still be there silently doing enough damage in his gut to kill him.. I would be surprised if you are able to save him at this point.. he needs something that will kill the cocci -not just make it mad- (Sulmet DIMETHOX 40% SMZ-TMP (960/180) double strength pills .... doubt Corrid would help at this point)
