Babies are Coming!

My elusive nubian doe who has been fooling me for over a month now is finally going into labor. I have seen several long strings of "goo" come out of her this morning, and she is having what appear to be contractions, very often (5 minutes or less in between). But... and there always has to be a "but"... I can still feel her ligaments, they feel firm She was making a lot of noise earlier but is quieter now.

What is going on here? Should I be worried? I am hoping and guessing that she knows better than I do, and her body will do what it needs to when she's ready. She is still up and is eating, the rest of the goats are outside on pasture so she's the only one inside right now.

If she's been having contractions, and she's stopped, yes you should worry.

Got lube?

After 45 minutes of unproductive labor, you need to scrub up and "go in" to check. She may have a breech kid stuck.

She is still having contractions, they appear to be getting more intense, but yes, I can still feel the ligaments and they still feel firm. Will it be ok to "go in" even while her ligaments are firm?

I don't look for ligaments. Never have really understood them, felt them, etc etc.

Is her female anatomy pooching out as if something is coming down the birth canal?

Seeing nose and toes is what you want.

She is clearly trying to push the baby out, but it's not coming. I have a friend over who has been farming cows and sheep for decades, we're going in. I have smaller hands, but he's going to talk me through it. I'll keep you all posted. Thanks for the advice.

The first one definitely would not have come out on his own, he was backwards and very crooked. But I got him out and he is alive and healthy! There were 3 in total, 2 boys and a girl. They all seem healthy, the second and third came out much easier. I will post pictures soon! Thanks everyone!

I will post pictures this afternoon or tomorrow. Thank you guys for your help! I would not have called my friend so soon if you hadn't told me I should be worried! That baby would not have come out on his own! You saved them all (and probably mom, too)! Thanks!
