1st attempt @ cheese

My 1st round of cheese making went very well. Made a batch of chevre, split it in half and added pesto, then the other half sun-dried tomatoe with garlic. All i got to say is mmmmmmmmm!

I also made a batch of chocalate ice cream & it passed the 9 year old daughter test, she loved it. I thought it was ok, it needs more cream in it.

My next challenge is t make a batch of frozen yogurt, (any tips would be nice) the yogurt making I have done & it turns out nice.

Can you freeze chevre, if so what does the thawed texture like?

Now if I can just get my wifey to make some soap!!!

Chevre freezes great - just thaw out in the frig - you cannot even tell that it has been frozen.

I put the milk we drink into a fat separator(qt size I used when making gravy) Then you can use that to make ice cream - we like the milk more that way too.

I dry my chevre more, make hand size patties and then baste it with red wine - drunken goat cheese

I also add ground almonds, cranberries and honey for a morning cheese - yummy yummy

Soap is great to make - I find it easy and you do not gain weight!

Right now all of my milk is going to feed kids... We steal a little now and then, but I can't wait to start making cheese! I love your tips!

Medic, can you post directions on how you made it or post a link? I have tried in the past to make cheese and was not satisfied with how it turned out. I need some tried and true recipes

Thanks, Sherry in GA

Don't add salt or herbs to any cheese you're going to freeze. Wait until you thaw it to add things.
