Exclamation Weak newborn anyone have a feeding schedule?

I have a newborn weak kid. He is willing to take the bottle though. He is unable to stand on his own and is pretty much just skin and bone. Any suggestions would be great and if anyone has schedule of how often and how much I should feed him that would be wonderful.

I would give him a Bo-Se shot right away. Keep him warm, I bring them in the house

What breed is he? When I had a tiny Nigie I heated 4 oz every 2-3 hours she ate as much as she wanted. I would wake up once at night to feed her for the first week, after that she drank more and made it fine through the night.
If you do not have goat mik, whole milk from the grocery store works well.

He is a Alpine. I have him in the house. Bo-se shots? is that something I need to get from a vet or does TSC carry that? I'm milking his mom. Been trying to feed him every couple hours. He's only been taking about 2oz each time. He was born around 7am this morning. I never had one this skinny and unable to stand. I'm really hoping that there is some sort of hope in him.

Bo-Se is selenium, and it is a veterinarian supplied med.

If you have a vitamin E capsule, pierce it and squeeze the contents in his mouth.

little ones like that I keep in a plastic tub, on a heating pad (well on a towel, on the heating pad.. with the pad turned down low.. just enough to keep them warm).. I also roll up towels and put on both sides of the kid (to keep it up right).. I feed 2 to 4 ounces (by bottle if they will nurse, by tube feeding if they won't)... feeding every 4 hours, around the clock. You will have to make sure baby is having bowel movements.. holding them in a standing position helps.. as does gentle massage under the tail... sometimes the little ones will need an enema ... we hold them up with a tea towel under their middle as a sling and let them use their legs.. most of the time they'll be up on those legs in a couple days... I think a big part of keeping a weak kid going.. is LOVE.. cuddle, nibble on ears -like mom would- lots of gentle stimulation (not the kind that will wear him out, just enough to make him WANT to live and to know he's loves)...
good luck

Cannot give any better suggestion than what Yarrow just gave. Good luck with him.

I came on to post about our weak doeling and read this thread, she would swallow, but not suck on a bottle or nurse her mama either...

I went out and gave her a dose of a vitamin E cap after reading your suggestion Alice....wow, an hour later it was like I gave her a shot of adrenalin!
She was up running around, nursed on her mama, and she has had an amazing turnaround, I am in a bit of shock, lol, if I had been the one taking it and getting that result I would figure it was psychological, but can't be that with her...
what does the Vit E do??

I just brought her inside to give her another ( I only have 200iu) and to give her an extra bottle...
I don't have any idea why and what that did for our little doeling, but wow, and thank you.

I hope your baby is doing better GF, sorry to jump in on your thread...but wanted to let you know the results we just got also.
