Thinking of selling out my Nds
I dont know why but I seem to be the only person who has trouble selling their kids. Some of the best bloodlines the same exact ones that others are selling for 400 I cant get 200 for.
I dont know why and Im not seeing much return on the investment and know if I sell them now Ill be loosing even more. If anyone is interested or has advice lmk.
I sold a Mini Nubian for twice what Im asking for these doe kids who are adga and ags, both are out of the same buck! I am just wondering if the market is flooded locally and Im not known well enough. My hopes of showing have been doused, by the time I can again I wont care enough about it to go through the hassle and I cant keep feeding does I cant milk (most are not trained milkers) and having kids I cant sell.

after thinking about it we are open to trades on a single or all, id like to get 300 for the does at minimum each with the exception of a couple that should be pets, 150 for my black and white buck, the other Ill keep around to breed my nubians with unless I can get 400 for him. All are duel AGS ADGA though papers from ADGA are still being processed.
I have 5 does, 1 buck, 4 doe kids (who are so nice, going to show them at this coming show unless sold) and 3 buck kids.
www.cannonfarmsga.com I will post the info not on my site for them.

Sorry to hear that. When we first moved to Southern Idaho we had the only herd around, but we sold mostly out of state. Then some other herds built up over the years. Now with the price of hay and grain having increased so much there are very few dairy goat herds left, no ND herds in our local area. They are expensive to raise, that's for sure.

This may not be the least of the reasons for your predicament.
You go on and on about how nice they are, how they're AGDA, AGS, etc. but then in the next breath say they're not milkers. If you want to sell dairy goats you have to own dairy goats. If you don't even have your own herd trained to milk what makes you think people will want to pay you top dollar? If they're looking for milk goats chances are they're going to go to someone who is milking goats.

these where bought to be show stock as well as parents to milkers, these where sold as kids for 400 or more. One of my does dam is 6x grand champion 9x best udder and her daughter just earned her 1M . I dont feel Im asking top dollar compared to what other goats are priced at, some from a breeder in NC have similar lines she gets 1400 for them because she can afford to parade her goats. One doe will milk, shell do over 2 qts when shes not raising her kids I have gotten as much as 2 and 3/4 quarts out of her in peak production. I have milked the others but I wouldnt sell them as trained milker.
I knew it was going to take time to get out there, but with this 5th child on the way and me already being on some limiting restrictions I feel its time to sell.

Think awhile more before changing anything too much.At least when I was PG,things would sometimes seem so bleak, and then the ol' hormones would shift around and things would be so much more doable.

I'm not having any trouble selling my kids but I can't seem to move my dry yearlings or first fresheners. There's a lot of people around here that say they want good family milkers but then end up wanting the babies.

I think the economy has a lot to do with dairy goats not selling as well this year. The price of feed has gone up 50% in the last few months here. If the weather gets any worse the price will go up even more. There is a drought in western Kansas and the wheat crop is looking bleak. The drought goes from Texas to Kansas and not sure about further north.
I think your prices sound more than fair. I hope you find some buyers. I am not having any luck with craigslist. I listed milkers and weaned kids and got two replies. One needed advice on setting up for milk goats(i sent her more than she ever wanted!) The other wanted to trade a horse for goats! It looks like they will go to Yates Center and get sold for meat.

I think a flooding of the market is at least in part to blame. Their increase in popularity is good in some ways (they were considered to be in trouble by the American Livestock Breeds Conservancy but are now listed as recovering), but it also has unwanted side effects such as a large influx of pet breeders and even "puppy mill" types that flood the market while not really doing the breed any good as far as improving conformation or lactation.

Most of the calls we receive are from people looking for 1) raw goats milk or 2) milking does. We don't sell raw milk and since we've just put our herd back together we don't have milkers for sale. Although we don't show currently, we do milk all our does and the time spent with them pays off with potential future buyers. Our bottle fed kids tend to sell themselves due to the 'cuteness' factor. We've kept kids from spring kidding, so have had to turn buyers away. We'll see how it goes with the June/July kiddings.

I listed these goats
does, two are out of direct champions the other two have a champion grandparent, one is a heavy well trained easy to milk milker the rest could be milkers but never asked to but are great moms and will throw very nice babies for showing and milking.
Doelings, 3 total, two are out of my LTE Sugar Cookie 3M buck and one is out of a nice buck another member on this board now owns.
One buck Little Tots Estates Nibbler who throws awsome kids, his doe kid is one of the only two nigerians I plan on keeping.
Optional Fox buck kids and one grandson of Tusuga from LTE free with package or $75 each if more than one is bought.
All those together id like to get $1800 or does priced each are 300 and nibbler is 150. Fox can be sold for $400 which is what I paid for him as a buck kid. Most does should be bred to Fox for early fall kidding but it was pasture bred since every one is a easy kidder.

a few trade suggestions, larger vehical no newer than 95, 4 wheeler, lamancha/nubian does, no horses.
For 2000, I will let their donkey go with them, shes 28 inches and is a great help in keeping them safe. Delievery is availabe at cost to just about anywhere within a 3 day rt from Ga

We have a doeling out of Nibbler by Chevy, the doe we bought bred from C_F, and she is gorgeous and very healthy. Our whole little herd came from her, and we couldn't be happier with them - all healthy and sweet as can be. If we had more room and time available, I'd probably be making another trip to GA!

We've been kidding since Dec. Sales are slow until just before school lets out (now). So, we only breed a few does to kid Dec thru Mar, then have the bulk kid crop in time for the sales season (May - June).
Market them again on Craigslist, with pictures & any perks of your herd, and give a discount for 4-H kids.

www.cannonfarmsga.com and though not current and has a couple issues (juniper has the wrong pedigree on this other site) you can see more detail on pedigrees and parents on www.picturetrail.com/cannon_farms as its an easier program, I have still not figured out GoDaddy fully to post things like I want. After the Nigerians are gone the site will be disabled.

Well, I can tell you why that is. Even though your goats are just as good as the ones you paid $400 for, you can't actually get that... unless you show, and your herd name becomes well known, and they have the fancy titles... I'm just saying, because i don't know your exact position. But, that is the way it is down here. How long have you been around?

It was my full intent to show, get my name out there but with a 6, 2 year old and one on the way (im at high risk for complications) I am not going to be able to do that now and thats the reason Im selling. These are great foundation goats for someone who wants to show or raise some top milkers. Im trying to make it easier thats why Im willing to trade.
Right now as it sits Im going to have to hire some one to come out and help trim hooves something folks normally hire me to do, pull blood for this years CAE testing. My husband can do the big girls but the little goats are hard for him to work on and milk because hes such a big guy, and considering hes going to have to do the brunt of the work when I cant I prefer it to be to his advantage.
