We have EARS!

We have EARS! - Goats

We have EARS! - Goats

Not in a million years would I have said I was getting a single out of Strudel! She is naturally big (great capacity and depth) but I thought at least twins, maybe triplets! I bounced and felt nothing and even went in to check because I couldn't believe it.

BUT HE HAS EARS! And look at that roman nose! That's what I get from breeding a 75% boer to a Nubian buck! I love his markings too. Black facial stripes and a black triangle at the back of his head. It's dim in the barn, I'll get more pics once he's steady on his feet, dry, and outside in the sunshine.

Wow, you sure do! When I saw the first pic, I just figured he was a pure nubian, my mouth dropped when I saw the next pic of him with his earless momma! He's a cutie!

Aww, how cute! Sometimes they have triplets and it looks like singles, and sometimes it's a single when it should, really, be triplets!

Hey look! There's a baby goat attached to those huge ears!

Sometimes genetics can be a funny thing.

Exactly. Dam is 75% boer, 25% LaMancha. I couldn't find a disease tested boer herd to buy a buck from or use, and we didn't have our AI tank last fall. SOOOO I used my friend's purebred, disease tested nubian bucks on my senior does.

I used my miniature buck on my boer doelings - bred 3, only one took apparently. > BUT that particular infertile (and mean as spit!) mini buck is now made into jerky, and I have his son and an unrelated mini buck to use instead. I also bought a purebred Boer buck from a tested herd so I won't have to breed them for cross kids in the future.

He is adorable no matter! I rmember your new boer buckling Waylon, he's a little cutie too!
I had 1 of those mean as spit bucks & he was butchered & fed to the dogs.
Now I have 3 bucks, all lovers & so friendly that I don't know which one to get rif od but I definately don't need 3 bucks.

I'll only agree because I like my boers... of which, ONLY this buckling and Waylon have them. 3 of the boer does have lamancha ears (this kid's dam and her two doelings from last year, 88% boer), one has airplane (75% boer, 25% fainter) and one has upright (50% boer, 50% fainter). All the rest of my goats have upright.

And you can keep those NUBIANS to yourself!

LOL!

Goat breeders. We'll defend our breeds to the DEATH!

I was actually reading the standards for Saanen and Alpine... Of course, I can't afford to keep multiple breeds, so it's just daydreaming.
