I've never had any bleeding (unless someone pulls off a scab).. is this a fresh disbudding? if so, you need to reburn.. here. (and figure out WHY there was blood.. I've never had a drop of blood when I burn buds ??? ) If I have a kid pull off a scab and there's a lot of blood. (which happens at least a couple times every kidding season)... I just heat up the burner & reburn.. never had an infection happen..not sure I'd want blood stop powder on there...

Perhaps your iron is not hot enough? That's the only time I've seen bleeding.

What iron are you using?

Perhaps let it heat up longer, reburn and make sure you give it extra time to reheat before burning the other side.

At least, that's what I would do.

Sorry but cauterizing hasn't been successful which will no doubt result in horn regrowth.

We just had the same thing happen last night. We disbudded two babies and both started bleeding a lot. We got the bucklings head to stop bleeding by reburning, but the doelings bleeding would not stop. I called the vet and he suggested wrapping the head with bandages to keep pressure on it. It did finally stop, and we have come to the conclusion that the iron we are using is not heating up like it used to. So we are on the hunt for a new iron. We use the X-30. I think the iron is about 4 or 5 years old.

I never even try to do heads, until my burner has had at least 20 minutes to heat up... I want it red hot.. I use a X50. I want it so hot that my hand is almost burning, just trying to hold the handle !!!

It's been recommended to store the tip in a tin can to contain the heat to keep it hot, between burns. Especially if the weather is cool temperature. It should glow orangish.

It looks worse than it is, so take a deep breath....accept that your only human &.things happen sometimes.

Then, go reheat your iron for 20 minutes, redo her and then its all over. If left as is, I'd worry about scurs. Once it's all over go have a drink!

If it makes you feel any better, I have to go redo my friend's doeling that I screwed up on (she was 19 days old when I did her, already had lil horns & now one side is scurring). It's bad when it's your goat.....worse if you mess up someone elses goat
