Need your advice about pricing my milker doe

I have hard time figure out how much should I sell her... I dont want to keep her because she is not show quality. She is FF and never been LA or DHIA. She is very very nice doe and gives about 3 qts a day. I dont want to sell her super cheapo. I mean when I brought her it cost me 250 dollars and bred her to see how she does. It didnt turn out well what I expected. But her doeling looks better than her. U know.

Don't take less than the $250 you paid, especially if she is in milk now.

I need more information about the doe in order to give advice about pricing. What is her breed and registration #? I can look her up based on that and give you suggestions. What is the goat market like in your area? Do you have any pictures of her? That will help me figure out what she is worth.

I sell nubians pretty fast in my area. Its strange because with nigerian dwarf is sooo HARD to sell here! They only want to get them for 50 dollars. I refuse to sell that price!! We are trying to sell our ND becuz my daughter is not interested in them! UGH!

In her pedigree you have some fairly strong animals on top and some fairly weak animals on bottom. Unfortunately neither of her parents have any appraisal or DHI data either, although most of her grandparents have some sort of data. I'd suggest you list her at what family milkers are going for in your area. Based on her grand parents, I am guessing that she is a fairly small and narrow doe with a decent rear udder but not the best fore udder attachment. She probably also has wide teat placement.

How easy is she to milk? If you have someone interested in her, you should probably let them have the opportunity to milk her to see both the milk volume and the ease of milking.

She is narrow. She is lil small. Yeah. U r right. She is easy to milk! VERY EASY to milk. She kidded with no problems. Yes her topline looks good but not the rump so much. Just lil steep.. But my kids love to milk her becuz she is the easiest. Her udder is lil lopsided (unknown reason). No masitisis and anything. Who knows why..

I wont sell her less than 250 becuz I spend 250 and drove all the way to TN. U know.. That is why I am trying to figure out how much should I sell her. Her doeling looks MUCH better than her. Its weird how it works.

Look and see what other Nubians advertised as family milkers are selling for in your area. If she is milking three quarts a day, that is about 6 lbs and is decent for a Nubian and should be sufficient for most families.

In my area that would be a $250-$300 goat. If she were a Saanen she would be a $300-$400 goat. Breed really makes a difference.

Well Yeah my area is more like a crap becuz most of them are CAE postive and etc and etc. U know how it goes But I normally sell my milkers so fast anyways. Yes I always sell like 250 to 300 for a good milker like my red milker.

That is funny how it works because with saanen in my area is SOOOOO cheap! Very low. Its so weird.. Same thing with ND. I cant even sell them that easy. So I am going to stick with nubians. LOL.

The quality of the breed in your area makes a difference. There are several Saanen breeders in my state who breed very high quality animals, appraise, and test. Everyone else who breeds Saanens uses genetics from these breeders, and even if they don't appraise or test, they have the records from closely related animals in herds that do test. Besides that, most Saanen breeders in my state do regular CAE, TB, and Brucellosis testing. Saanens are also very popular because of their temperament and production. You are hard-pressed to find a Saanen milker for less than $400 in the State of Georgia because of these combined factors.

I can see that. It is so sad to see a lot of people around my area dont do the CAE and CL. Only 4 of us (owner) are the only ones do the CAE and CL. Its sucks. Oh well. What can I do ! I know there is a lady live 5 or 9 miles away from me. She have HUUGGEEE herd of saanen. (milk and cheese thing). She sells them CHEAPO even with papers and she does DHIA and i think she does LA too. I think it is a lot of do to with this area. Oh well.
