Pics of my new doe
Here are a couple pics taken by her former owner (she allowed me to post them). I call her Dolly and she is a 3/4 Alpine 1/4 Nubian. Those are her 1/2 Nubian kids with her, boy and girl. I don't have the kids, they were kept by the breeder. I can't begin to say how happy I am with the purchase of this doe! I had never milked a goat before, and she is wonderful. Only a year old, but she stands patiently for milking and she is giving me almost a gallon a day! I was very impressed with the breeder. Dolly was very well taken care of, up to date on health records, everything perfect. If anyone is in the Lexington or Louisville KY area and looking for goats I will give you the name and number. She doesn't have alot of goats, but what she has are very nice.
I just couldn't be happier

Beautiful, congratulations! And based on those babies, you should have some beautiful babies out of her next year. I love the baby closest to her in the pic. What a striking little one.

Actually you're closer than you know. I have another doe, a Togg and two baby wethers as well. So four in total! :happy0035:

It is nice when someone actually takes care of thier animals isn't it. Always better to have a few well taken care of the lots half taken care of.

Pretty! Looks almost like she has some Ober in her. She looks a lot like my 1/2 Nubian, 1/4 Alpine, 1/4 Ober kids from this year!

She does have a nice udder, but has one defect. She has a slight pocket in the fore udder. That's why she was sold, her full sister was Res. Ch. Recorded Grade Doe at our State fair in 2010. And Dolly was supposed to be a show goat, but that pocket ended her chances of showing. Which all worked out well for me. I wouldn't have been able to afford a goat like her otherwise. In her extended pedigree she has 3 out of 4 great grand dams were star milkers, and alot of other *'s in there too. No wonder she gives so much milk! I was told the pocket would not effect her milking ability, but I have to wonder if it might effect how the udder holds up (attaches) over the years?
And yes, it is very nice to find someone who takes good care of thier goats. Not to mention rare. This lady was so happy I would also give this goat a good home, that she hugged when I left. Course we're now friends on Facebook!

Congratulations, beautiful goats! Everything else considered, I sure wouldn't sweat over a fore udder pocket on a doe who wasn't going to be shown. And, if she's standing still to be milked even though you're a new owner and giving you a nice amount of milk as a first freshener, I'd give her a blue ribbon personally!
