New Milk Stand

My hubby finished the second milk stand so now we can milk two goats at the same time. I had him make a little bit narrower and shorter so it would better fit in the space we have. I love it. I am so happy with both stands.

Both stands are made from recycled wood. When hubby gets the chance he is going to finish sanding it down and staining and putting polyurethane on it.

Here is the new one

Here it is with its mat on it. We need to get a longer one but that is a mat we had for something else at one time and it will work for now.

Here is the old stand that he made a couple of years ago.

Very Nice, he did a real good job on both & recycled wood is great on the budget too!

My dh is going to make me one too, I'd like it soon but we'll see. I'm not milking anyone now but sure would be handy for hoof trimming, CD & T's, etc. Then I wouldn't need his help so much.

Thanks! I am so happy with both stands. And they are both just solid as can be. Could probably lock a bull into it and it would hold up.

It is really great to milk two does at one time. Hershey use to get so impatient.

I don't mind at all.

Heck yeah we have AC! It gets ridiculously hot and humid later in the summer and I am not about to die of heat stroke while I milk. We go in about an hour before milking and turn it on. That way its cooler in there and then of course it is blowing nice cold air while we are milking. Once we are done milking, we turn it off.

You have shelter to milk in....my stands are outside..

You have AC!!! Being in Texas it goes without saying that I should have AC..

And I love your stand!!! I wanted to haver one like that, but I have no talent for wood working

Awesome. I am going to try and fab one off your pics for myself.....well the goats. I would look pretty silly in a milker.

Would it be good for giving meds and trimming hooves?

Thanks,

Chris

Nice stands! DH did my milk stand with steel, welded. It's waist high with a ramp so the ND and mini does are up higher for milking, trimming feet, clipping, etc. I really need a second one so we can start milking two at once. That's so much easier.

Bwanaswan, I don't trim feet or give meds on the stand but i don't see any reason why it wouldn't work for that if you needed it too.

I built an extra stand to have under the carport for trimming hooves and shaving hair in the spring. That way, I'm not having to clean stinky hoof trimmings and little hair cuttings out of my milk house.

Very nice!! I'd like to build another one, just not so wide.
Please consider hanging your bungees somewhere else, out of goat's reach. If you've ever seen a goat grab one of those hooks in their mouth and take off running while the other end is attached to something ....well it's really ugly and bloody.
