Fly control

Holy cow. A couple of warm days and we are swamped with flies.

This is in the new area where I rotated the goats to, too. We've already cleaned up the older area, threw out the hay, put down lime and Sweet PDZ and covered it with wood shavings but there are flies there as well!

What am I doing wrong here? I have never seen so many nasty flies and I do not want them on my goats!

I also used the QuickBayt last year & it worked great.
Those flytraps that you put the powder mix in & water work well to trap lots & lots of flies too.

I don't think you can get rid of flies entirely but you sure can cut their population down.
I spray the goats to keep mosquitos & flies off of them & no they don't like it, But I don't want them eaten up either.

I noticed they are being bitten as well. I will get the QuickBayt and see if that does the trick.

Thanks!

Spalding Fly Predators really do work the best of anything we have tried! Love their odor remover too!

Flies don't seem to bother my goats anything like they do the horses and cattle. I have free range chickens and ducks. They say Muscovy ducks are fly eating machines.

Not sure what they are called, but we use the fly bags that you add water to and they stink like poo. They work wonderfully. I get them at the feed store for about $5 each. They are clear bags with yellow and black writing (if I recall correctly). One bag lasts all summer and I often add water to them when they get low to keep them going longer.

I don't use a trap. I put out some of the pink granules on a feed sack in the corner of the milk house. Dump it once a week or so.

If you make a liquid with it, or use the QuickBayt white granules you mix with water, you can spray it on places where flies congregate, but it will mildew in Missouri humidity.
