Medicated feed milk withdraw..

Ugh....been one heck of a week goat wise!

But my new does eye is looking better, she can actually open it now, but it still has a huge red spot and white cloud on it.

Our other new addition who came home at the same time as my doe is improving. Despite dehydration, coccidia overload, early weaning (I put him back on the bottle) and pneumonia he is doing well...talk about a lil fighter!

During this past week I've had no sleep....sent hubby to get my goat food...he asked for the proper thing, the feed store guy just loaded the wrong thing in the truck. Get it home, I mix all the bags with my oats and BOSS...all the girls have been eating it since Saturday....TODAY I was tossing feed sacks out and happened to glance at the tag..

MEDICATED!!!! So I have about 200lbs of what was supposed to be my milk stand grain, that is mixed with medicated pellets.....We have all had sinus infections/colds here so we haven't drank nearly as much milk as we usually do this past week so I don't think it will kill us........But if anyone in my house was suffering from coccidia, I guess we don't have to worry about that now

I had to order more feed, it won't be in until a week from Monday....So the girls have to continue on the medicated stuff until then.....Anyone know the milk withdraw time from medicated feed? I bought store bought milk for us (human kids are NOT happy and asked why I bought the milk with water in it-it's whole milk, but not even close to being as creamy as the goats milk ) and now that I have another bottle baby I do at least have something I can do with the milk until I get my old feed back and get the girls off the medicated stuff.

Sam will be 11 weeks on Monday...was going to try and cut him back to 2 bottles a day, but until my milk is usable for us again, he'll be piggy heaven with his 4 bottles a day lol

Anywho.....if anyone has an idea of what the milk withdraw time would be from the last feeding of medicated food, is appreciate it.....Still can't believe we did this

I will tell you that one of my good goat newbie friends in Missouri fed the wrong feed all one winter, and she and her children are fine.

LOL! Are they coccidia free too??

I started mixing my medicated mix 1 part to 3 parts N-Timidator meat goat pellets for the boys and once my feed order is in, I'll use the rest of the medicated mix for my new doe who really needs groceries and get my milking girls back on their unmedicated mix...

Still can't believe I didn't even check the bag before mixing it all up!

Happy to know my medicated mix isn't going to kill us, BUT I'd still rather not drink the milk from medicated feed...

Hon you arent the first one to get "the wrong bag"

We feed stuff with coccistat in it. Yes & to the milker & we drank her milk. We even eat out of freezer camp I guess we're ok.
