Better news from BioTracking test results - still need advice

I sent off blood on all four of my does to BioTracking and just got results in.

Madeleine - not bred (no surprise) and CAE titer of 14 = negative.
Oreo - not bred (big unhappy surprise there) CAE titer of 32 = marginal.
Viola - not bred (another big and not happy surprise) CAE titer 23 = negative.
Little Bit - pregnant (yay!) and CAE titer of 25 = negative.

So, the two does that tested positive through Pan American labs came back with titers of 23 and 32, so one negative and one marginal. They also both tested as not pregnant. The new doe Madeleine had CAE titer of 14, and not pregnant (pretty sure she wasn't since she only freshened about 6 weeks ago but since we were testing, went ahead and tested her as well.) And Little Bit tested negative through PAVL but had a slightly higher titer than Viola, who tested positive through PAVL.

So, with a titer of 32 on Oreo, what would you do? I'm starting to think it's better that she's not bred, so we won't have to pull kids and bottle feed (which I DO NOT have time or energy to do unless absolutely necessary).

Wow, welcome to the wonderful world of goat blood testing! Sheesh, sounds like a mess. I think Alice has good advice. Good luck!

You can actually try and re-test her in a month if you want to. A lot of things can bring titers up...recent worming and vaccination, stress, etc. If she is marginal....that CAN mean a new infection, but it most likely means a stresser of some kind.

I will test her again in a month or so then. New doe in the herd (and one determined to unseat Oreo as herd queen at that) has been stressful I'm sure.

I had a marginal in December when all but one of my main herd was also open, buck was still a little young, so rebred everyone with a bit more help from us humans and needed to retest for preggo so retested the marginal titers at 30 and another that was a high negative titers at 26 we got the results back and I was floored a 0.0 and a 4.0 so obviously they had been stressed at the time we tested previously. The only thing was I could not figure anything out until I realized it was right about the time we changed feed and they were at the end of the time frame and needed to be bolused. I will be retesting in the fall for breeding

Both Biotracking and WADDL will retest "suspects" for no charge.

Wait 30 days and retest - in the meantime, quarantine that doe, to give you a chance to decide what you are going to do with her. (Quarantined until you get results back on the 2nd test).

Rosie got a 31 last fall and a 7 this spring :-) Make sure she's been bolused, wormed, well fed, rested and wrestle as little as possible drawing the sample

I'd retest in 30 days on the marginal.

Interesting about bolusing possibly having an effect. All the goats here are due for copper bolus now except the new doe Madeleine, so that may have caused higher titers. I got a jar of Copasure and am going to make goat size doses this afternoon and dose everyone that needs it in the morning.

Carol the "wrestle as little as possible" made me laugh, but then I remembered that the does with the highest titers were the two I ended up having to hold down and sit on to stick...
