Crooked tail

My doe who has a mystery kidding date has had a crooked tail for the last couple of days. She holds it up, but it flops over to the side about halfway up. The base of her tail also feels "loose" but I can still feel ligaments. Could she be close to kidding?

Those are signs of imminent kidding. You are spending the day in the barn today, aren't you? She is in a kidding stall, right?

Just checked on her again. She is still up and walking around and eating but is definitely going into labor. The ligaments are practically gone now.

Yes, she is in a separate stall with plenty of fresh bedding, hay and water.

Is it possible for ligaments to come back after they disappear? I think I can feel them again, or am I just feeling her pelvis? It's hard to tell. I haven't seen any discharge or fluid yet...but the base of the tail still feels very loose and limp. she is still standing and eating, but was being very affectionate and nuzzly when I was down there about an hour ago.

I haven't done this before, I am nervous!

I do have someone standing by on call (not the vet, but an experienced farmer who lives nearby) in case anything goes wrong. But I don't want to call him unless I have to.

Tootsie's tail did this too.....She kidded in December and her tail is STILL flopped over! It flopped shortly before kidding....about a day before I believe, and here it is April and it is still crooked. lol Wonder if it will ever go back to normal?
