My Miracle Kid

Here he is:

My Miracle Kid - Goats
This is his "ET" impression - he wants out of the box and he wants his bottle!

My Miracle Kid - Goats
His legs are still pretty wonky, but he's very strong on them.

My Miracle Kid - Goats
And his eyes aren't open yet.

I'm just astounded at the determination of this little guy!

Probably a dumb question on my part...but will his eyes eventually open, like a puppy or kitten? We haven't had a preemie here so I have never dealt with that. BTW I want to kiss hiss big pooched out Boer lips...

Isn't he just? :baby04:

I'm pretty sure that his eyes will open in time. He just wasn't baked long enough. There's a glimmer at the inside corner of his eyes, so I'm guessing that it will be a lot like a kitten, when they start to open.

I am just absolutely amazed at how well he is doing! He's now going a little over two hours between feedings, thank goodness. It was barely an hour and a half earlier today. Maybe I'll get a bit of sleep tonight.

I'm afraid his sister was the reason he was born prematurely. She was stillborn, covered in brown gunk, and looked to have been dead in utero for a while. Mom was started on penicillin this morning, just in case.

Something made me go looking for a second kid - I went out to check on the doe and she was yelling. I found him along the fenceline, upside down and I was pretty sure he was dead too, until I picked him up and he started screaming. He hasn't looked back.

He's squawking for his bottle now.

Baby almost slept through the night last night. :banana02: He woke up about 3:45 am and sucked down 4 ounces pretty quickly. He then slept through until I was ready to get up. I'm hoping he sleeps all night tonight.

He's starting to get lots of names:
Jackson Pollack or Picasso - he likes to "paint" the walls of his box.
Richard Leakey - for obvious reasons
Sir Squawks-A-Lot
and Stinky - cuz he's a buck, and all bucks get called that!

I'm so happy to know he's doing well for you. Eventually, you'll get some long sleep time in, and it will be the best sleep you've ever had - LOL!

When I had the lamb in my house I wrapped a diaper around his middle with a small piece of duct tape from the diaper to his hair to keep it from spinning or slipping off - worked great!
