Phantom Pregnancy

How many people have dealt with this? My doe whom I have been waiting anxiously to get a doe kid out of I believe is having a phantom pregnancy . For all intensive purposes I thought she was pregnant but this last month I thought something was odd. I chalked it up to it being a single and so she wasn't bagged up like normal and that is why I couldn't feel the kid. But her 150 days is tomorrow and she hasn't even softened one bit on her ligs and her udder still hasn't really bagged up although it isn't as saggy as it once was. Have I been fooled into giving my doe free grain for nothing? (she is probably doing this right now to me ).

I have never dealt with it before but this has been a weird year for breeding and kidding so I am not putting it past her. I am bummed because I wanted a doe kid plus I don't want a dry doe (even though I have two others because THEY wouldn't get bred...long story on that). If this is a PP what can I expect? Will she actually eventually go into labor or will she just go on like nothing happened once the due date is past. Her belly sure has gotten bigger and not just from the extra grain. She kept up with everyone else on when her belly started growing and never came back in heat after I bred her.

I am so major bummed . She is 6yrs old and I don't have a doe kid yet off of her. I had a doe kid from her from 4yrs ago but she ended up injuring her udder real bad and I sold her as a family milker as I didn't have time to deal with the problems it had even after healing and I didn't want kids out of her right away for the next two years but this year I really wanted to see what my new buck did with her. I guess I should thank her because that way I am only keeping one doe kid back this year and that is it..helps me keep the herd down. But I really am curious if anyone else ever dealt with this?

Justine

I had a doe once who had a cloud burst pregnancy which I guess is a little bit the same isn't it? My girl never looked pregnant but just never went into heat. She was a FF Nubian. Anyways- Just one day I went out there and she had blood on her back end and a fist sized udder (she was flat the day before) and that was it. I searched high and low for a kid but none was to be found. It is so disappointing to raise a doeling/doe for 5+ months expecting a kid and then not get one

Maybe she is going to hold out until day 155 and will bag up nice and big just before delivery.
