Hot knee and limping

2 yo Nubian doe, freshened in Feb.

I purchased her one week after kidding. Was told she was CAE neg.
Did not see documentation, but totally trust the source.

If the doe is neg, what else could cause her limping and the heat in the knee?

injury, infection, or she sprained it... I don't think CAE causes heat in the joint, but I could be wrong...

Did her udder fill fine, and milk well? If so, chances are it isn't CAE. She may have knicked it and gotten an infection. I'd try some antibiotics or colloidal silver to see if it was infected. If not, then you might consider CAE. But they don't usually show the joint pain at that age yet.

First thing that comes to mind is, same thing that would cause it in yours, a good whack.

How fast did it get hot and swollen?
Does she have any fever? (joint infection is generally accompanied by fever, injury is local heat)
Any other changes?
